1993年秋，日本东京郊外江户川边，有一群爱好踢球的在日华人组织到一起，成立了一支业余华人足球队，每周末他们都会聚集到一起踢球，娱乐。慢慢的越来越多的人加入到了这个团体，从足球到羽毛球，从高尔夫到马拉松。鉴于华人团体的规模越来越大，2013年NPO法人日本华侨体育交流协会注册成立，协会致力于服务在日爱好体育的华人朋友，以及国内赴日交流的体育团体或个人，为更好的促进华人的体育文化活动而努力。
