What is Acadly?

Acadly is a realtime tool for live in-class polling, quizzing, Q&A, attendance and analytics on student behaviour. Compared to clickers and other in-class apps Acadly is free, can save a class of 50 more than $1000 a semester, has a built-in class chat platform so that you don't have to use too many tools for your class.

Given the unique course structure that is exclusive to Acadly, it can facilitate various pedagogical methods. An instructor can use Acadly to practice -
* Flipped Classrooms
* Active Learning Classrooms
* Blended Learning
* Collaborative Teaching
* BYOD teaching

Using Acadly, course instructors can -
* Conduct Attendance with One Tap
* Create and Conduct Live Quizzes
* Create Live Polls
* Track student attendance during lectures
* Conduct live discussions
* Share files, videos and links
* Make Announcements
* Post Lecture Summaries
* Create and Grade Assignments

Students in the meanwhile can raise queries, as themselves or anonymously.

Discussions on Acadly are auto-created and contextual, which means the students don't have to navigate away from the context to make a point.

Since Acadly is realtime, all the members of a course get instant in-app and push notifications.

1000+ professors have signed up in the last few months and are using Acadly actively in their classrooms.

Acadly aims to be the last ed-tech tool to be ever used and we are only just getting started.

Happy teaching and learning!

Zoom integration fix and a few other bug fixes
2.8.6 2023-09-25
Bug fixes with students' attendance statuses that kept reverting to Absent. :( Sorry about that
2.8.4 2023-02-10
An update to take care of students' not being able to stream Zoom meetings.
2.7.1 2022-09-23
In this version, we're fixing a couple of bugs that do not affect normal functionality but do affect performance. For recap, the following were the changes for our last update:

Hello! We hope that the new semester is off to a flyer for all of new. After this rather extended period of uncertainty all over the world, it must be good to get back to the joys of human connection. We have much in store for you with this mandatory update -
For our enterprise and Pro instructors, we introduce the new "sorting type" questions in quizzes. Along with that, we are introducing anonymity in discussions, done pretty much exactly how it should be.
For everyone, with this update, we have tried to provide a feature to give more information during the attendance process. Now you'll be able to see exactly those 2-3 students aren't being marked. This feature is in beta but we're excited to hear from you!

This is a mandatory update for everyone, so you will have to update Acadly to continue using it. Thanks!

Let's hold steady and carry on!

Hello people! Hope you all had a great semester and the summers are going great. This is a pre-semester release to take a few new features for a spin.

This is a compulsory update so you will be prompted to update the app.

Hope you have an awesome summer!
2.5.28 2022-03-09
Hello! This is general housekeeping and release of a few features in beta that will be tested in a few handpicked courses. If your instructor has asked you to update the app and you haven't yet, please do so.

2.5.26 2022-02-10
With this update, class assistants will be able to start and end lectures. Earlier, only the class in-charge could take these actions.
2.5.25 2022-01-23
Hello! Hope all of you are having a good start to the semester. If you're not, remember that it's just the start. Things can always get better.

With this build, we're improved the attendance system a bit more.
2.5.23 2022-01-04
A very Happy New Year to everyone! This new year, we begin by pushing an update to bring the in-app Zoom functionality to the latest version.

We hope all of you had a safe and New Year celebrations and are all prepped up to make the most of the new period that begins now!

Best!
2.5.19 2021-10-01
We updated Zoom's library to bring it at par with the latest developments that Zoom has been making. Essentially, it means you should have a more seamless experience. We also fixed a UI bug that made the top navigation bar look a little wonky in a few screens. Other than that, most of the work was under the hood so you won't be able to see it but you should definitely feel a more seamless experience using Acadly.

Hope you all are having a great semester!
2.5.18 2021-09-14
Fixed/squashed/decimated/disrupted/annihilated/remedied/marginally-improved a bug that was causing the app to crash while joining an online video meeting halfway through and a few other improvements!

Happy teaching and learning!
2.5.2 2021-01-04
And lo and behold! Before we know it, it's time for the new semester. Thankfully, this year is coming to an end and with this update we are ridding the app of the tiny bugs that were affecting remote classrooms.

Hope you all have a great 2021!
2.5.1 2020-12-14
General house keeping right after the semester is over. Hope you all as good a semester as one could, given the circumstances.

Happy festive season!
2.5.0 2020-11-02
Nothing much to see here. Just a few bug fixes and laying the foundation for a few features to debut this fall semester.

Hope you guys are staying safe and learning hard!
2.4.6 2020-10-18
A little something for the instructors. Your publishing preferences for polls and quizzes can now be saved on a course to course basis, thereby reducing the time and the taps it takes to publish an activity during the lecture.

You're welcome!
2.4.5 2020-10-04
Hope y'all are learning as much as we are this semester! Based on the feedback from our users, we have added certain enhancements for a smoother remote classroom experience. We have also squashed, with vehemence, a few bugs that were ailing the experience.

Carry on and stay safe folks!
2.4.4 2020-09-07
With the new semesters, come new behaviours and feedback on what we recently changed. We realized that our implementation of auto submission of quizzes and polls was, for the lack of a better word, overthought. So based on your feedback, we have tried to make it simpler and more intuitive. Hopefully you'll find that it is a step in the right direction.

Have a great semester ahead and remember, we are always open to feedback :)
2.4.3 2020-08-30
Racing towards the start of a new Fall semester (and in some cases, catching up with the Fall semesters that have already begun), with this update we add more features to ensure better engagement in hybrid and remote classes. In the classrooms that are using Zoom enabled Acadly, the students will be able share their own video and audio with the instructors and fellow classmates from within Acadly itself.

We hope you like it!
2.4.2 2020-08-17
We have upgraded the system! If your Acadly account is integrated with Zoom, the recordings of your Zoom lecture meetings will now be available on Acadly.

A truly seamless remote classroom experience, now on your iPhone!

Hope all of you have a great and safe semester!

More bug fixing and house keeping as we gear up for another Fall semester. Admittedly, the semester will be very different from all the semesters any of us might have been a part of in the past, but we still strive to serve the instructors and students to the best of our abilities irrespective of the modes of teaching

A quiet release for a quiet summer. Just testing a few things out before making any big announcements. Hope all of you are keeping safe
2.3.1 2020-05-01
This update is too anti-climactic to be the last update for this semester, yet it is. Most probably. It includes only bug fixes that are quite underwhelming as compared to the historic events that all of us are going through. But then again, little but consistent fixes can yield big results.

Stay safe and stay at home everyone!
2.3.0 2020-04-19
Hello! As the semester comes to an end, we are pushing out a compulsory update to help instructors have better control over the duration of in-class activities. This update enables instructors to close an in-class poll or a quiz manually, without having to preset a duration. Along with that major change, we have fixed tiny bugs that most of you may not even have noticed. We hadn't either but someone did. So, we fixed those.

Have a great semester and stay safe!
2.2.20 2020-04-02
Firstly, we hope you’re doing well and keeping safe. Secondly, thank you for all that you’re doing, teachers. You inspire us! We truly mean it.
In the spirit of moving forward and improving, we are excited to launch two new features.
1. 30-second and 60-second deadlines for quizzes and polls are here. CHOP CHOP, CLASS!
2. When the deadline is over, Acadly will now submit the student’s quiz/ poll so that they get credit for partially completed work. Contactless... just the way things should be :)
2.2.19 2020-03-09
It’s often the little things that cause issues of pandemic proportions. So, this app update focuses on bug fixes to give you a smoother, more reliable experience with attendance, notifications, and class scheduling. Mandatory reminder - wash your hands!
2.2.18 2020-03-01
Like the helpful people providing marathoners with water and other nourishing drinks halfway through the race, we are here to boost your semester run with an update almost midway through the duration. Primarily we have fixed a navigation bug pertaining to certain kinds of notifications and a couple of other fairly-unnoticeable-yet-still-there bugs.

Carry on semester-ing our friends!
2.2.17 2020-02-19
Hello there! This is a quiet release which fixes some bugs with text rendering. In some activities, instead of text, students were shown the image placeholder. As good looking as the image placeholder is, we understand that it should be shown only in lieu of missing images and not when there is plain text. Especially when the said plain text is part of a poll or a quiz question.
So yeah, that was an unintended oversight on our part and we have fixed it. Let's put all this behind us now. Thank you!
2.2.16 2020-02-16
On this lovely weekend, we bring to you a new update. An update which includes dates in the activity filter mode, a way to better understand of which classes are you an in-charge in a course with multiple instructors, and a few fixes for the bugs that were reported.
2.2.15 2020-02-02
In our efforts to brighten what has been a gloomy January globally with war threats, bushfires, a global epidemic, and untimely demises, we are pushing an update to get rid of a few niggly bugs. Yeah, it's not much but is at least a step forward towards betterment. In that spirit, we hope all of you have a better February.
2.2.14 2020-01-22
Hello! We found a pesky bug which may have affected your realtime interactions on Acadly. So with this update, we have quietly Hadouken'ed the said pesky bug and a couple more. Hope you have a much smoother experience from now on.

Best wishes for the semester!
2.2.13 2020-01-15
Last minute bug fixes for a smoother user experience during the semester. Hope y'all have a great semester!
2.2.12 2020-01-11
Our gift to teachers for the new semester? A great new feature, of course! (And a few bug fixes!)

Introducing a whole new way to re-use your old courses.

Instead of copying activities one-by-one, you can now select an old course that can act as a template for your upcoming course. Based on this, Acadly will intelligently suggest activities to you based on your teaching style.

2.2.10 2019-12-08
We all get by with a little help from our friends, and that's what our latest release is about - collaboration. Introducing an all-new role on Acadly - Class Assistants.
Make any course team member a Class Assistant, and they'll be able to help the professor with two key tasks:
1. Assistants will be able to record attendance
2. Assistants will be able to award class participation points
Start saving tons of time by using your Teaching Assistants effectively with Acadly!
2.2.9 2019-11-18
This Thanksgiving month, we are pushing a build to thank you for all the tiny, niggly bugs you have reported since the beginning of the semester and for helping us fix them.

We are extremely glad that we are being used across thousands of classrooms and we thank you for giving Acadly a chance!

Hope you have a great Movember!

2.2.7 2019-10-07
Continuing with our efforts to make Acadly run flawlessly on iOS 13, this release has a few more bug fixes and improvements.
2.2.6 2019-09-29
We are now iOS 13 compatible. We have made some changes and fixed a few bugs that may have bothered our users who have upgraded their iPhones to iOS 13. We have tried to make things run faster, smoother, and have ensured that we keep up with the latest changes introduced in iOS 13.

Hope all of you are having a great semester!
2.2.5 2019-09-19
Hope you all have started off well with Acadly in this new semester. We received feedback from quite a few of our new users (and a few of the old ones too) and you can now sort student lists by your preference for alphabetical order. Given name, family name, up, down etc. All with a couple of taps and not to mention, the sorting preference will persist across the different devices on which you use Acadly.
Along with that, we have fixed a couple of bugs to ensure faster run times and smoother experience.

Thanks for your time!

Acadly now gives the instructors the ability to tag class participation points!
Highlight exactly how a student or a group of students contributed to a class. Be it for QnA, speaking their mind, or making a group presentation. Note all of the details with a swipe of the slider and a few taps on the keyboard.
Verbal discussion becomes a breeze! Cold calling at its best!
Try it out!
Let us know what works and what doesn't.
Hope you have a great semester!
2.2.2 2019-08-24
It's raining words! With this update, instructors will be able to generate word clouds out of discussions!

Want a quick summary of your students' thoughts on a particular topic? Just publish an in-class or a pre-class discussion and watch as the students' posts are summarized in the form of a beautiful word cloud.

Or use the discussions as means to conduct polls where students get to type out their opinions and the results are depicted visually.

So we bring all that and a few bug fixes with this update. Hope all of you have a great semester!

FALL IS HERE! We love the beginning of the academic year, so we decided to launch some big improvements to welcome new users. The two most notable changes are:

1. A New enrolment method for students - by Join Code

You can now invite students to join your course in a whole new way - by generating a Course Join Code. Share the code with students, and that's it. They can self-enrol anytime! You can also invite students to your course by uploading their email IDs, like earlier.

2. Creating a course is simpler and faster: The new course setup flow is linear, snappy, easy-to-understand, and saves you tons of time over the course of a semester.

What can we say? Guess we just love spoiling you for options.

Hope you enjoy the all new getting started experience! HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!
2.1.32 2019-06-18
Simple bug fixes. Preparing the platform for a few much awaited changes before the next semester begins. Hope you all have a great summer (or winter, for our friends from the Southern Hemisphere)
2.1.31 2019-04-29
For the final stretch of the semester, we stretched ourselves to ensure that you have even a better experience as you begin revising your course material on Acadly. This update includes bug fixes and minor enhancements to get rid of glitches that a very few of you had experienced.

Not all conversations are born equal. Acadly now helps you rate all comments for their quality. Simply tap on the comment to rate it on a scale of 10.

Looking to use this data for grading and analysis? Use the all new discussion data export feature. Export data for a discussion thread by tapping the new export button on top, or visit the course analytics to download data for the entire course at once.

And finally – spread the word! Visit the My Courses page to recommend Acadly to a colleague – we appreciate all your help!
2.1.28 2019-03-17
Not only do we take care of a few niggly bugs but also introduce the "Edit Published Activity" feature that enables the instructors to edit Assignments, Quizzes, Polls, Resources, and Discussions after they've been published. We had to work hard to find a solution that works for both the instructors and the learners and while maintaining the realtime nature of interactions on Acadly.
As always, we continue on our journey to improve the teaching learning experience and it is a pleasure to have all of you along.
2.1.27 2019-02-24

New year, new features!
Firstly, we've made an improvement to one of Acadly's most loved features - one-tap attendance. Professors, we heard you. We're happy to introduce two new attendance statuses - "Excused" and "Late". You can assign these statuses to students using the manual editing mode.
Secondly, when you export data from Acadly, your students' first names and last names will now show up in two different columns, so that you can sort the results by first names or last names. This will help you sort results in the correct sequence before you upload them to your LMS.
Wish you all a fantastic 2019!

This app update will help you time travel to 2019… soon. Apart from that great feature, we’ve managed to squash a Grinch-y bug or two in the spirit of the season. Wish you all an awesome new year!
2.1.18 2018-12-01
As the semester draws to a close, we have been kept busy with some housekeeping. This is a minor update to fix some of the existing bugs as we prepare for a new semester. Hope you all had a good one!
2.1.17 2018-11-18
Professors, we're sorry we Hulk-smashed what was an elegant manual editing flow for attendance, but your feedback has worked and we've improved!

Students, we have nothing exceptional to report, so we'll just say... I am Groot ("update for bug fixes and performance improvements" in English).

RIP Mr. Stan Lee. You will be missed!
2.1.16 2018-09-30
After months of scratching our weird beards and man-buns (not being sexist, it's a pop culture reference), we have taken another positive step towards perfecting our attendance solution. This update allows a Lecture In-charge to -
1. Update student attendance even after a lecture is over
2. Award class participation grades after a lecture is over

Outside of these two major changes, we made a few more changes to ensure a more efficient automatic attendance process and a very small number of bug fixes. Update today!
2.1.15 2018-09-16
Paul McCartney is old,
The semester is new.
We fixed a few bugs,
To make Acadly slicker fuh you
2.1.14 2018-09-09
We are working hard to increase the efficiency of our automatic attendance process. This is another step in that direction. If the students open the app while attendance is in progress, they will be marked automatically.
So we did that and fixed a few bugs.

2.1.12 2018-08-26
Hello again! We cleaned our iOS house before the semester begins and have made a few changes to make administration easier.
1. Course Administrators can now assign lecture in-charge and class assistants for many lectures in one go
2. Students can now change names upto 3 times. We had a reason for not allowing students to change their names upon signing up, but we don't exactly remember what it was... so... this update
3. We found bugs. We busted them
2.1.11 2018-08-11
You commanded and we delivered!
1. Acadly's apps now allow you to configure notifications for each discussion thread. Want to follow a discussion? Just subscribe to the comments with a single tap. Getting too many notifications? Unsubscribe the same way
2. The usual performance improvements and bug fixes
Have a great semester y'all!
2.1.10 2018-07-15
We are quite excited to announce a couple of really useful features for the instructors!
1. Comment Awards: Each student comment can now be awarded points for the quality. A way to gamify discussions that encourages high quality participation, both inside and outside the classroom
2. Reward Class Participation: With a simple process, professors can now their reward their students' offline class participation instances with points - a record which can be accessed any time for assessment purposes
Apart from that, the normal bug fixes and performance improvements.

New New New!
(i) A better on-boarding experience for everyone. We have put some helpful tips to help our new (and old) users make the most of Acadly. In case the tips annoy you too much, you can easily turn them off
(ii) Images are now served faster and the chat screen UI looks neater and smoother
(iii) Some bug fixes that shall not be talked about. Just that a few harmless bugs were there and now they are not. A moment of silence for the bugs. They shall not be missed. Thanks!

2.1.5 2018-05-19
Unfortunately, the app was crashing for a few students when attendance notifications were tapped. We have fixed that. Sorry about the inconvenience.

On a happy note though, professors can now export consolidated course level data for assignments, quizzes, polls, and attendance with a few taps. Yay technology!
