Alphabear: Word Puzzle Game

Fixed bug that was causing Verses Mode rewards to sometimes go missing, plus other bugfixes and improvements. Also slipped in a new bear for the upcoming February special event. :-)

We've fixed the problem that was causing in-app purchases to fail for some iOS9 users. Many, many apologies for this, and thank you for your patience! (Also, thank you to Apple for expediting the review of this update!)

If you were affected by the purchasing bug, freshly booting Alphabear after installing this upgrade (and waiting a minute or two) should fix your problems. If not, please email support@spryfox.com and we'll help!

Improvements and bugfixes for Verses mode, including a new "Find a Random Challenge" button. We've also reduced the honey cost of initiating a challenge to just 20 honey.

We've also improved sharing to Facebook, so you can now post a challenge link and your bear picture at the same time, as opposed to just the link. :-)

Verses Mode is here! Once per day, you can challenge your friends and followers to beat your score and complete the second half of your bear photo! The more people you beat, the better your reward. You can share your challenge through any medium - SMS, email, Facebook, Twitter, and more! And you can accept an unlimited number of challenges by other players every day -- the more challenges that you accept and beat, the more rewards you will win!

Verses Mode has its own special bears that you can collect and level up. They don't influence score nearly as much as Campaign Mode bears, so when you beat other players, you can be sure it's due to your excellent vocabulary and potent puzzle strategy. ;-)

New in 1.12.0:

- We've added Special Events! For a week, once a month, you'll get to play one-off events with special prizes. Look for the first around Thanksgiving!
- A new way of navigating between chapters, to make it much faster to collect all the bears!
- All-new events for Chapter 8!

- Alphabear now has a limited offline mode! This ended up taking a lot more effort than we expected, so we shipped the most basic thing we could as quickly as possible, and will hopefully enhance it in the future. :-)
- Improved performance if you have lots of bears.
- No longer requires Game Center to log in before the main menu, so loads faster for some iOS9 players

- If you are signed into your Game Center account in Alphabear, and if you have iCloud enabled in iOS, your progress in Alphabear can now automatically be saved to iCloud and if you wish it can automatically be synced between multiple iOS devices as well (you will need to be signed into the same Game Center account on both devices for this to work.) If you do not have iCloud enabled, but want to take advantage of this new feature, please go to your iOS settings app, look for iCloud, then enable "iCloud Drive" and also enable "Alphabear" which appears below iCloud Drive. - This update also contains 10 new bears that will be unveiled as part of the new Chapter 10 later this Thursday! :-) They are all video game-themed. We hope you love them!

- Fixed a problem with daily event high scores not recording properly
- Frozen tiles no longer count down the turn after they've been thawed, so it won't feel pointless to thaw tiles with 1 turn left on them!
- You can now pay 385 coins to get an additional bear from treasure events, rather than pay 400 coins and play again

New in this update:

- Frozen tiles are a new board obstacle that has been introduced to some of the events in Chapter 7. They must be thawed before they can be used!

- A rather over-the-top new animation when you win a legendary bear.

- Lots of optimizations! Less memory usage, less stuttering during gameplay, and maybe fewer incidences of devices becoming physically hot. We know we still have more work to do on this front but hopefully this helps.

- Balance changes to chapters 6 and onwards.

So much good stuff in this update! Here are the biggest changes:

- We've done a major rebalance of the game. Difficulty increases per chapter should feel more even and rewards should feel more consistent.
- Bear naptimes are MUCH shorter.
- A couple dozen cute new bears spread across the chapters, to increase the variety of rewards (and because, well, why NOT add a bunch more cute bears?)
- Bear selection screen has been revamped to make it easier to browse your collection and select/unselect bears (pro-tip: you can now double tap a bear to select it quickly.)
- New "challenge missions" in each chapter, which are extra-hard, but always give rare rewards if you earn a gold egg!
