Unlike other social networks, Apex allows you to choose who gets in your inner circle and curate the best conversations on the internet.
YOU'RE IN CHARGE!
- Curated space: choose who gets in and who stays in.
- Set the the rules: moderate content and members.
- Exclusive: conversations visible only to group members.
- Be who you want: choose your real identity or a private, masked one.
- Support for multiple identities: keep your friends and family separate from your other groups.
- Hidden ownership: perfect for revolutionaries and interest groups with no owners.
- In the moment conversations: easily see who's active and start an in-the-moment discussion.
- Keep up with multiple conversations effortlessly.
- Everyone can create and participate.
We want to hear your feedback!
Now anyone can create groups and invite members. Feel what it's like to harness absolute power over an infinite amount of people. You could be the next dictator. Yes, you!
Leave and manage your notification settings for groups.
Typed out a message but left the conversation? No problem! The message you wrote will be there when you return.
Seamless onboarding experience, bugs and performance fixes.
Joining a group is better than ever. Check the vibe and choose who you want to be before you're added to the waitlist.
See more details on an account before approving them into your group.
Now any member can delete their own conversations.
We've exterminated more bugs and made product improvements. Keep the feedback coming.
Onboarding is now entirely in app. This sets us up for some very large changes coming soon.
Changed how you react to messages in conversations. Long press on a message to bring up the reaction bar + contextual options.
So many bug fixes and design tweaks. Many of them. Please keep reporting these as you see them - apologies for any that you've run into!
Working around the clock to finalize a number of huge changes before opening up! Thanks for sticking with us!
Apex now works better in low and no-network environments. If a message fails to send, we'll notify you and let you try again (rather than black-holing the message). Thanks to all who brought that to our attention.
Tons of small bug fixes, design tweaks, performance improvements.
Most importantly, this release sets the stage for Apex v2 which will slowly be pushed out over the next month ;)
NEW ACTIVITY. Completely reworked our activity system. We'll post more information in the active Apexes.
PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. They were broken before, and they are less broken now.
CONTEXTUAL MENU. Tapping the chevron on the top right of conversations opens up a contextual menu of actions. More here soon...
If you run into any issues, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
That's it for now...as always, thank you for being a part of Apex :)
PULL TO REFRESH - there's nothing worse than being in a terrible situation and having no control over it. For those moments when you know new activity is there but you're not seeing it, pulling down will sort everything out. All of those glorious conversations: refreshed.
BUGS AND...right, more bugs were squashed. It's just a fact of life as a software company that there will be bugs. But it's also a fact of life that we'll squash 'em :face_with_look_of_triumph:
REAL TIME - messages and reactions will now update in realtime throughout the app.
FLEX WITH A BIO - even if you're pseudoanon, I'm sure you've got a pithy quote or two. Who are we to hold back expression? Keep it concise, 100 characters only.
BUG FIX BONANZA - we're squashing all the bugs in sight. If we pivoted to an extermination service we'd be the first people to call.
And again (from the previous release)
* If you've been accepted off of a waitlist, no need to force quit or logout.
* Accepting the rules no longer errors. Accept the rules!
* Fixed a few crashes that happened once you've been accepted off of a waitlist.
Thanks for being part of the Apex Beta and thank you for sticking with us despite the bugs :) We know a few of you ran into some waitlist bugs, and we've fixed these issues.
* If you've been accepted off a waitlist, no need to force quit or logout. It will just work (tm)!
* Accepting the rules no longer errors. Accept the rules!
* Fixed a few crashes that happened once you've been accepted off the waitlist.
* Implemented a work around for universal links in Safari. Email magic link worked - but unfortunately things went wrong in mobile Safari. We've implemented a quick fix.
* Small ui/ux tweaks and perf updates.
WHO REACTED!? The burning question: who reacted to your message. Did Elon agree with Kanye? Who dare give them a thumbs up!? We tell all in this latest release.
EMAIL, MAGIC LINK. Refuse to use Apple Sign in to create an Apex account? Want an alt in your favorite apex? Alternative way to create an Apex account.
MISC. A few small fixes, additions, and easter eggs.
Creators, we removed the request banner, and made it a part of the member's list instead. It should be less intrusive now.
Enjoy and see you next week!
DESIGN CHANGES. The new design matches more of the type of content we're seeing, along with setting us up for new post types. Everyone should have a bit more space to communicate now :)
We made many other UI/UX changes, but we'll leave that to the adventurer to uncover.
RULES. Set The Ten Commandments / Hammurabi's Code of your community. All members must accept or risk being banished. Members, access the rules of any community at anytime from the member list.
ONBOARDING FIXES. You likely won't see this unless you join another community, but for all of our new friends...
IMPROVEMENTS. Removed the reactions from the profile. Something much, much better coming soon!
BUG FIXES AND PERFORMANCE...ok you get this one. If you've submitted a bug, we've likely fixed it. Keep sending them over! Specifically tons around push notifications and the reactions.
Also, the push notification hanging forever issue? Yeah, we fixed that one too. Tapping a push notification will take you to the right place now!
Fixed a number of performance issues to keep the app fresh and smooth.
Finally, we fixed a crash with iOS 13.3, wow that was a weird bug.
We've got a few more fixes and features coming later this week - hold tight!
See anything weird? Shoot us an email at email@example.com, in app through help, or text us if you have our number!
How does it work!? Tap the reaction icon once to "heart". Long press and slide to the right to choose an option. Release your thumb when you drag down to cancel.
ALSO, all of the reactions you get end up on your member profile. Tap on anyone's icon to pull up their profile. You'll get a sense of what the apex thinks about them based on the reactions. Definitely don't react to yourself all of the time because we'll give you a "self congratulates a lot" badge :laughing_emoji:.
Removed the force-touch on posts and messages (to get that slick reactions experience), and put those settings into the down chevron on the top right of every post.
Temporarily removing the time restriction on posts. Open season - have at it folks! We'll bring it back in a future build, but curious how things go without it :)
Enjoy a new, stable members list (tap the here now to see it).
Reworked on-boarding. Our copy is more direct, our default pics are masquerade masks, and we enforce that you choose an identity before you get in there.
The last few builds have focused on stability. The next few builds will focus entirely on new features, our reworked on-boarding, and a re-architecture to help us go even faster. Thanks for the patience here and thank you for using Apex - many fun new things soon!
The big addition here is the ability to change your notification preferences. Whether you're an Apex masochist like myself, and want to get that sweet sweet dopamine hit every time someone posts literally anything. Or you live on the other extreme, and would rather that your phone resided in the Sahara because a push notification triggers latent anxiety from the Clubhouse days, we support all preferences. It's very 2020 of us.
Our default is to only notify you when the creator of a community post, or to notify you of new conversation in a chat you've participated in. To change the defaults, tap on your profile picture on the top right, select "More" and modify your settings in "Notifications".
Though we've launched, we're still in a bit of a dress rehearsal. Here are some tweaks we made:
* proceeds to spit out entire git commit history *
Ok, nerd jokes aside, we fixed a lot. Made it prettier, snappier, more stable. Things we all care about. Like being 50% more Doomer.
In the early days, pretty much every release is "the biggest release ever zomg1!1!". Log in, check it out, let us know what sucks (and what you like!). Talk soon (preferably in the Dungeon)!
