勝安宮座落於花蓮市西郊，吉安鄉宜昌村內，是花蓮知名且香火鼎盛的道教勝地，殿中主祀「王母娘娘」，每逢王母娘娘三大祭典，信徒紛紛從全省湧至，在花木扶疏、香煙裊裊的廟宇中，增添濃厚的宗教氣息。

據傳說建廟原因起源於民國三十八年農曆六月十三日夜晚，當地有人見一白光直落兩廟之間(現址有一紀念石碑)，後見一端莊女神冉冉升起，直至不見，於是爭相傳聞，猜測此一端莊女神定是玉皇大帝母親下凡，要來度眾生，於是興建廟宇，信徒遍及全省，每年到此廟朝聖的旅客信徒絡繹不絕，也是當地人的宗教信仰中心。
