The classification of the different types of gasoline is based on their octane ratings: 87 regular, 89 mid-grade, or 92 Premium. The octane rating is used to judge the volatility of the gasoline. The lower the number, the easier it is for that gasoline to burn. Your octane rating is dependent on the type of automobile.

In conclusion, there is no advantage to using a higher octane fuel then what is required of your car. The manufacturers’ recommendation for fuel is accurate and should be used unless knocking in the engine occurs.
