Half uses state-of-the art compression when available to drastically reduce the size of your media.

On average, Half can reduce photo file sizes by ½. For typical photos, especially for screenshots and PNGs, it tends to give an even better savings. For videos, it works best on those of higher resolution such as 4K.

Half uses High Efficiency Image Format (HEIF/HEIC) and High Efficiency Video Compression (HEVC), modern compression codecs.

Fixes for rotation issues and resolution issues some folks were having.
BTW If this happened to you, there's a quick fix as it only affected the "preview" images. Just go to the Halved version in Photos, tap Edit then tap Revert to Original. This will remove the preview image that was causing problems ;)
