Introducing FormIt 2021:

Enhancements
• Reorganized and improved the offerings in the Material Library.
• Added a new green Success message when files are successfully uploaded to BIM 360 Docs.
• Added the ability to disable the Group Work Plane in Visual Styles.
• Section Planes are now ignored when exporting to non-FormIt file types.

Performance
• Materials in different Groups now share bitmap data, which reduces FormIt file sizes dramatically and generally improves performance.
Note: files saved in FormIt 2021 (v19.0) but opened in a previous version of FormIt, or converted to Revit using an outdated Add-In, will not display or convert Materials correctly due to this change.

Update 2021.1
• Fixed an issue where entering large dimensions in mm and cm units would unexpectedly display the entered number without the correct amount of zeroes, in certain language and region settings.
• Fixed an issue where the Ground Plane could partially disappear in Group Edit mode.
• Fixed an issue where the Group Work Plane would Z-fight with the Ground Plane in Group Edit Mode.

• Fixed an issue where Flatten would flip surfaces unexpectedly.
• Fixed an issue where zooming or panning could get stuck and exhibit no camera movement in some cases.
• Fixed an issue where Merge was using a different tolerance than expected, failing to merge edges in some cases.
• Fixed an issue where selecting faces in Groups would fail to highlight in some cases.
• Fixed an issue where highlighting of identical Group instances would disappear on camera change.
• Fixed an issue where Save As to BIM 360 Docs could fail in some cases.
• Fixed an issue where trying to save over a locked file on BIM 360 Docs would result in an unclear message.
• Fixed an issue where HTML markup would be unexpectedly visible in some messages.

Known Issues
• The Group Work Plane may exhibit Z-fighting in some cases, including when in Orthographic Camera mode. This will be fixed in a future release.
• Edges may show through surfaces unexpectedly in Orthographic Camera mode. This will be fixed in a future release.

o Added the ability to model using smaller units: millimeters, centimeters, and inches.
o Added an interactive tool to adjust the position of materials on surfaces.

o Added the ability to import files from and export files to local iPad storage locations.

o Fixed an issue where faces would fail to highlight inside a Group when the entire solid body was selected.
o Fixed an issue where the Shadows toggle in the Sun + Shadows toolbar could get out-of-sync with the Shadows setting in Visual Styles.

•Fixed an issue where hidden Layers may become unexpectedly visible during modeling.
•Fixed an issue where entering or exiting Group Edit mode would unexpectedly trigger an “unsaved changes” dialog on app exit.
•Temporarily removed Ambient Shadows due to performance issues with newer iPads.

o Restored ability to import local FormIt files without a BIM 360 Docs subscription
o Added the ability to view colors in OBJ files that have embedded color information, like 3D scans from Recap
o Group bounding boxes now reflect the Group’s coordinate system orientation, and Non-Uniform Scale uses this info to place its grips
o Improved performance of opening large OBJ files, and reduced overhead when saving large files and also for downloading BIM 360 Docs thumbnails
o Improved units handling for OBJ/STL files
• Lots of bug fixes, especially in the areas of selection highlighting, shadows, and core tools like Move and Drag Face (extrude)

This minor update will allow you to navigate better and provides more Undo/Redo flexibility than ever before in your models!

Here is what’s new:

•Global Undo/Redo
•When editing the Main Sketch (not inside a Group), Undo/Redo now works globally and chronologically, so the last change will always be affected, even if that change happened inside a Group
•When editing a Group, Undo/Redo is still per-Group as before
•Improved the Orbit algorithm to be more consistent, especially with selections that are behind (or partially behind) the camera
•When importing a model (via File > Import or Content Library) that contains Section Planes, the Planes are now discarded to avoid potential issues
•Fixed an issue where opening a file Saved with History doesn't restore the histories properly

Hello FormIt 360 fans! We’ve got a new release ready for you with many new features to improve your Conceptual BIM workflow. Specifically on iPad and iPad Pro we’ve added:

•Full support for iPad Pro resolution!
•We now support the Apple Pencil! Sketch more accurately and use pressure to lock into a selected axis.
•Sounds tell you when you are snapped to a point and moving along an axis. These can be disabled in the Settings menu.
•New gestures for undo and redo. Double flick to the left to undo and to the right to redo.
•New monotone surface for a subtle visual style.

Set the Origin for your Main Sketch and Group Instances with X,Y,Z Axes
•Feature summary: You can now see and set the red, green and blue axes that define the 0,0,0 point of your sketch. You also have a way to define the 0,0,0 origin point of any group instance. Then you can quickly ‘reset’ the 0,0,0 point to the original location. You can turn on and off the graphics for the axes.

Sketch using a Workplane
•Feature summary: When you set your axes in the main sketch, or in a group you will also be setting a workplane. This workplane will stretch out to infinity and provide a plane to sketch on without snapping or inferencing to elements behind it. Turning off the grid will turn off the special snapping associated with a workplane.

Unique Scale for each Group Instance
•Feature summary:  You can now scale any group instance and maintain the geometric relationship between different instances of the group even though they are different sizes.

Unique Materials for each Group Instance
•Feature summary: You now have a quick way to differentiate one group instances from others by painting with a material (if there is not yet a material defined for faces inside the group). This is useful for displaying an instance differently from other instances.

Control Contrast of Edges
•Feature summary: You can use sliders to control how dark the lines in your FormIt sketch appear. There are separate sliders for silhouette edges and for all other edges.
