BBQ Sheriff version 2.0 is loaded with new features! We listened and here they are:
- Added new functionality for judging larger contests.
- Added functionality to wirelessly merge contests when scored on multiple devices without requiring internet access, cell service or a WiFi router.
- Added extended help to describe common operations like creating a new contest, scoring large contests, etc.
- Added functionality to handle contests without a Grand Champion summary.
- Removed all advertising.
- Added ability to select portions of the Verification Report to reduce processing time.
- Miscellaneous minor bug fixes and user interface improvements.
We didn't think BBQ Sheriff could run any faster but it does. Using the faster verification process we decreased the scoring time even more.
Some BBQ Contest providers such as the Memphis Barbecue Network do not need the Grand Champion BBQ Category so we provided a way to remove it.
Who wants advertising, really?
Another new feature is Extended Help. Extended Help is located under Utilities. We explain in detail the step by step operation of some advanced features of BBQ Sheriff. More to follow.
Our largest improvement is the ability to score contests of any size, large or small. We know scoring large contests will require more than one person entering scores.
Additional people each need a scoring device that can communicate with the main contest device. This procedure is called networking.
We investigated traditional networking using a web based app. Web based apps requires WiFi and a good fast internet connection. We think networking dependent on the internet, WiFi, or cell service is problematic due to the uncontrolled nature of those services at many locations. The last thing a barbecue contest needs is unreliable, slow scoring!
We discovered Apple Sharing has a wonderful wireless feature called AirDrop. Apple devices talk to each other though AirDrop. AirDrop is dependable, secure and does not need any outside services such as WiFi, cell service or the internet. Apple Wireless Sharing is what we chose to use. AirDrop will keep your contests fast, reliable and secure. If your contest is in the middle of a field with no power, WiFi, cell service or internet you can still rely on BBQ Sheriff.
Remember, we run BBQ contests to HAVE FUN! Don't tie yourselves down with a whole lot of bookwork. Let BBQ Sheriff do the work for you. Download the fully functional FREE demo today!
