3.13.0 2022-01-25
Turn on "Sync items to Calendar" from the Settings tab to enable one-way syncing from beorg to your calendar. When this is enabled beorg will attempt to create a new iCloud calendar and create events for items that appear in the beorg agenda. This is one-way only so any changes made to the created calendar events will be overwritten or deleted. The calendar that beorg creates should be considered read only. If you find that this feature isn't useful to you then once disabled simply delete the calendar beorg created. You should have this feature enabled on only one device otherwise you'll find multiple calendars are created.

Also in this release:

+ Long press calendar entries in your agenda to create tasks
+ A fix for unexpected behaviour when searching for items within a certain number of days and repeating items
+ These update notes are now more detailed and you can view changes in previous versions of beorg
+ Added some additional logging for clocking
3.12.0 2021-11-20
This update contains a fix for issues experienced with Dropbox sync for users with large numbers of files in their org folder. Thank you for your patience whilst I got to the bottom of this. If you do still experience any issues please raise a support ticket.

Also in this release: quick add tasks to days/files, just tap the + buttons next to the days/filenames on the Agenda and Tasks tabs.
3.11.1 2021-10-14
This is a minor update to beorg which fixes an issue with the badge-filter custom search. This can now potentially match any headline rather than just headlines which were tasks with a date.
3.11.0 2021-09-30
You can now add a custom search to a widget. Tapping the widget will take you straight to that search in beorg.

Also in this update:

- When bulk editing items there is now a select all option.
- Fix for parsing indented logbook drawers.
- If not syncing make sure that the agenda and notifications still get updated
- Fix for folder sync messing things up when there are subdirectories
- Fix for manual sync hook not being run
- Fix for rare crash when updating tags
3.10.4 2021-07-15
You can now turn off automatic sync to stop syncing whenever you modify something in beorg. beorg will still sync when backgrounded however if you use a non-iCloud sync method this can speed up using beorg if you are modifying lots of items one after another. See the Settings tab in beorg in the sync section to turn this off.

If you use WebDAV and were seeing some percent encodings in filenames you should find these are now gone.

Clock lines now have two spaces before the total time spent to match behavior in Emacs.
3.8.1 2020-12-06
In the previous update time reports were introduced. In this update you can now create a time report from a saved search and from your agenda.

Also in this update is an improvement to the search interface. The helper bar above the keyboard will now filter files, property names and other search types to make it even quicker to create new searches.
3.8.0 2020-11-29
In beorg 3.8.0 you can:

+ Add an agenda widget to your Home Screen with optional Reminders and calendar events
+ View detail daily, weekly, monthly and all time reports if you use the Task Timers extension

Changes to make it more robust to specify WebDAV URL and folder sync settings.
3.7.2 2020-09-22
A few sync bugs and an issue with the share extension found their way into 3.7.1. This release contains fixes for those problems.
3.7.1 2020-09-11
+ On the files tab you can now choose whether to open a file in the outliner, item editor or text editor using a long press on iOS 13.
+ Better handling of priorities which are not just a single letter.
+ New scheme variable beorg-add-newline-between-headlines to add a blank line before headlines when writing org files.
+ When encrypting notes ensure the text being encrypted always ends with a newline to prevent issues in Emacs when decrypting items.
+ Some accessibility issues in the outliner have been fixed.
3.6.2 2020-06-13
This release contains fixes for a couple of minor issues:

+ Improvements to how items with no task state are shown in the agenda when dated in the past (they are no longer considered to be overdue)
+ Fix for certain links when showing in notes/export (they can otherwise result in a URI error message instead of the link)
3.6.1 2020-03-25
This update allows you to add dated notes from the item editor. Tap the notes icon on the toolbar when editing an item to add a quick note with today's date and time.

If you want to use WebDAV sync on a local server and can't create a trusted certificate (for example because you need to use the IP address) then you can now instruct beorg to work with untrusted certificates so you can use self-signed certificates with beorg WebDAV sync.
3.6.0 2020-03-05
There is a new beorg extension available in this release. You can now create and edit properties on items. See https://beorg.app/blog/properties/ for more information. The properties extension is part of beorg Premium and as an individual in-app purchase.

3.5.2 2020-01-30
This release clears up a few bugs. If you spot any issues with beorg please use the Support Center linked to on the Settings tab.
3.5.1 2020-01-15
A few iCloud sync bugs crept into 3.5.0 - this release should fix them. If you still experience any issues please get in touch via the forum or raising a ticket on the support center.
3.5.0 2020-01-13
In this first release of 2020 beorg introduces bulk editing of items on your agenda and TODO lists. Simply hold down two fingers on an item and drag down to start selecting, or tap the top right button and choose Select Items. You can then bulk change state, priority, tags and dates. Great for sorting out your New Year tasks!

3.4.0 2019-11-23
Thanks to everyone who have contributed suggestions on how to make the thinking person's to-do app even better.

This release introduces a new extension for encrypting individual items using OpenPGP - an IETF encryption standard. Encryption works with an items notes and subitems - and is great for confidential information you want to keep in beorg. OpenPGP symmetric encryption is supported (that is an item is encrypted with a password) - and your encryption password is securely stored in the Keychain and uses Touch ID/Face ID for quick unlocking. If you use Emacs and Org mode the beorg implementation is compatible with EasyPG. (Please note full file encryption not yet supported).

For full details about encryption in beorg see beorg.app/encryption. Encryption is available via a beorg Premium subscription or can be unlocked via an in-app purchase.

Also in this release:

+ Faster interface for adding multiple items using the "Save +" button
+ If you have beorg Premium or the Templates extension then you can now set a template to use as a default when you tap Quick Capture
+ Improvements to accessing saved searches
+ Search your notes
+ The TODO tab is now Tasks
+ Fix for an issue where certain characters at the start of a file could lead to the wrong file encoding being deduced
3.3.0 2019-11-13
This release is for the keyboard warriors out there! beorg now has much more extensive support for keyboard shortcuts for those of you with an external keyboard.

Other changes in this release:

+ New Scheme functions item-properties and item-property for searching property drawers.
+ New Scheme variable badge-filter so you can override the app badge number.
+ Respect the per-item property LOGGING when set to nil.
+ Use REPEAT_TO_STATE property when marking a repeating task as DONE.
+ Fix for templates where double quotes are used.
+ Formatting of code when viewing library.org improved.
+ Undated reminders now appear on TODO tab.

If you find beorg an indispensable part of your workflow help support development with a beorg Premium subscription, purchase individual extensions or leave a tip. Thank you for supporting indie app development.
3.2.0 2019-10-28
This release includes some new features and bug fixes.

+ You'll be able to view and manage subitems from the item editor screen - no more unnecessary switching to the outliner.
+ Reminders lists now appear on the TODO tab - so you can see undated reminders in beorg.
+ iOS 13 menus when you long press on items on the agenda and TODO tabs, and files on the Files tab.
+ Set action and done states from init.org (org-todo-action-keywords and org-todo-done-keywords) for better syncing between devices.
+ Fix for load-themes not working from init.org.
3.1.0 2019-10-18
The big news for this update is support for iOS 13 Dark Mode, together with some improvements to the text editor and a few bug fixes and other improvements.

All users on iOS 13 will be able to use the system Dark Mode in beorg 3.1.0. For those users who have purchased the previous dark mode extension you'll now have access to the legacy dark mode theme and a new theme based on the Solarized color scheme.

The agenda now has a new button on the date bar to allow you to jump directly to a date rather than navigating one week at a time.

The text editor has been enhanced with better support for checklists - including a button to start a new checklist and automatic continuation of checklists.

If you've been tripped up in the past by beorg insisting on UTF-8 file encoding you'll be pleased to know that beorg will make an attempt to read a file saved by another app regardless of its file encoding. Please note however that beorg will only save UTF-8 encoded files.

There are some improvements to beorg's handling of Reminders, and some other minor bug fixes to improve your task management experience.
3.0.1 2019-09-28
There were a few bugs which crept into the last release. 3.0.1 should fix the issues with checkboxes, the export themes extension and timers. In 3.0.0 checkboxes were supposed to save their state when you tapped them but often didn't - and worse the code related to this sometimes caused the app to crash when updating a task. Hopefully all of these issues will be a thing of yesterday with 3.0.0.

As always if you have any issues with beorg please get in contact. You can do this via the Support link on beorg.app. To get involved in helping shape the future of beorg visit the forum - tap the forum link on beorg.app to get started.
3.0.0 2019-09-10
beorg 3 introduces two new extensions - and a beorg Premium subscription to unlock everything. EXPORT THEMES allows you to choose from three different themes and the ability to define your own using CSS. With TASK TIMERS track how long you spend on tasks, with all timing data recorded in plain text.

beorg Premium is a monthly or annual subscription which unlocks all current and future beorg extensions whilst you remain a subscriber. Try for free with a 7-day trial. beorg is an indie app (it isn't being developed by large company) and relies on your support via in-app purchases to continue releasing new features.

Also in this release:

+ Swap swipe direction on agenda/TODO items from init.org.
+ Certain actions now show notification banners.
+ Fix for "show on" dates when used in combination with scheduled and/or deadlines.
+ Checkboxes now work when include in item notes.
+ You can search property drawers.
+ Hide individual Reminder lists.
+ Repeating date modifier ++ now handled correctly when the new date should be today.

If you are an Org mode user then the new TASK TIMERS extension is compatible with clocking.
2.15.0 2019-07-04
This update to beorg can show your reminders in the agenda, and allow for basic edits of calendar events and reminders. You can grant beorg access to your reminders from the Settings tab or in the onboarding on first run.

For advanced users come some new Scheme variables - device-name, device-model, device-os-version and device-type. You may find these useful if you want to customise beorg to work differently on your iPhone and iPad.

Finally there is a bug fix for WebDAV users who don't use 24-hour time, and another for those of you running the very latest version of iOS.
2.14.2 2019-06-07
Just one change in this release - a fix for searching using Scheme expressions which was causing a crash for some users.
2.14.1 2019-05-22
This beorg update has the following changes, mainly aimed at more advanced users:

+ You can now provide a template specifier when using the URL scheme. Great for advanced workflows, you do things such as tell beorg where to file items added using the URL scheme.
+ Repeat modifiers can be provided in the template data syntax.
+ Repeated items now log state changes.
+ Quick access to your top templates via 3D touch on the app icon.
2.14.0 2019-05-07
This release adds a couple of handy new features. First up is that a CLOSED date is added to completed items - this allows you to track when you finished tasks. Secondly is the ability to add quick notes to items. Swipe from right-to-left on an item on the Agenda or TODO tab to bring up the task states (TODO, DONE, etc). At the top is a new option "Add Note...". This will open the text editor and then add whatever you entered as a note inside the item. This works great for recording progress on particular tasks.

There are a few bug fixes in this release as well:

- Org mode notes (now supported in beorg) have improved rendering.
- Pinned files which contain spaces now work as expected.
- SCHEDULED, DEADLINE and CLOSED date entries now all appear on one line in the saved .org file.
- Users who want to initiate a search with only two characters (a common requirement in some languages) can now set a filter-min-chars Scheme variable.
2.13.0 2019-04-17
This beorg update has some improvements to the Files tab. You can now sort files by name or last modified (if you like to see the most recently changed files listed first). If you have lots of files in beorg you'll be very excited that you can now filter the list of files to more quickly find the one you want.

In addition to the changes to the Files tab, this release now handles multiple repeating dates on a single task and fixes a few minor bugs tripping up some users.

If you enjoy using beorg tell your friends, family, Internet acquaintances, ... about it on your favourite social networks. Get in touch on the beorg forum if you want to swap tips with other users.
2.12.2 2019-04-05
Hello you productive people! Today's update fixes a few bugs and gives advanced users a way to customize both the text editor colors and the main beorg UI color scheme itself. I've added to the "How to Articles" on the beorg website giving you all the details - and an example of applying the lovely Solarized color scheme to beorg. Check it out at https://beorg.app/learning/custom-colors/

The bugs fixed in this release include:

+ Commented out lines in your org files are no longer parsed for dates
+ Searches via the URL scheme now return all matched items, not just tasks

If you find beorg useful check out the in-app purchase extensions and tips. If you love using beorg tell others about it on Twitter, Reddit and other social media platforms. Thanks for your support and have a great day!
2.12.0 2017-08-13
Searching in beorg is now even easier. Narrowing a search by tags, todo status, priority, etc is now super quick using the search toolbar. Simply tap the toolbar actions to add to your search. If you are a fan of the Shortcuts app then the URL scheme search action will allow for even more powerful workflows using beorg. Pass a search via the beorg URL and get back lists of matching items which you can process in a Shortcut. Also in this release: + Prevent file deletion by setting file-disable-delete to #t + Fix for referencing inherited tags in Scheme + Fix for crash if certain characters put into the Quick Capture setting If you want to see more great developments in beorg leave an in-app tip or purchase beorg extensions - dark mode, saved searches, unlimited templates and Box sync. Leave feedback and suggestions in the beorg forum.
2.11.2 2017-08-13
Hello beorg-ers! This release contains a few minor enhancements and a bug fix. Many of you have been asking for tag inheritance to be implemented. In 2.11.2 you'll find that search using tags takes into account an item's ancestor tags - for example if the item "Buy sun tan cream" has a parent "Holiday packing" with the tag "Holiday" then a search "t holiday" will return both "Holiday packing" and "Buy sun tan cream". If you use Scheme searches you'll need to switch to use item-all-tags to include inherited tags - there are separate Scheme methods to get tags specific to the item, and also the inherited tags. In this release is the ability for advanced users to customize the priority list by setting the variable org-priorities. Finally there is a bug fix to the recently added templates feature related to handling of dates. Help promote plain text task management by talking about beorg on Twitter, Reddit and other platforms :) Thanks!
2.11.1 2017-08-13
2.11.1 contains a fix affecting new users who choose to use Dropbox sync. Meanwhile here are the release notes for what is new and exciting in 2.11: The big new feature in this release is templates. Journaling, daily reviews, high priority tasks for tomorrow - just a few ideas for how templates make beorg even more useful. A beorg template can automatically fill in an item title, notes, assign a state, priority, dates - and even save the new item to a specific place in a file. You can create two templates for free - for unlimited template creation there is an in-app purchase. * NEW: Swipe up on (+) button to access templates * NEW: Add/edit/delete templates * NEW: Create a new item from a template * NEW: Use templates in URL scheme for capture. Add template=TEMPLATE NAME to apply a template to the capture, include edit=true parameter to allow user to edit capture. For example beorg://x-callback-url/capture?template=Journal&edit=true * NEW: Get user to confirm cancelling add/edit item if changes have been made * NEW: Improve rendering of links which look like [[#C1][Contact1]] * NEW: Scheme functions to get and set pasteboard/clipboard. (pasteboard) gets the current pasteboard string value, (pasteboard-set! "hello") sets the pasteboard to the string "hello" * NEW: Hook to be executed after a manual sync has completed. For example (set! after-manual-sync-hook (lambda () (open-url "working-copy://x-callback-url/commit?repo=org&limit=10))) uses Working Copy to commit changes to your org files * Fix for links in labels in agenda and todo list sometimes not being correctly applied * Fix for crash where some remote file details are missing * Fix for attempting to schedule a notification with missing details * Fix for crash on start if certain Scheme functions are accessed that invoke native code * Fix for crash if synced file doesn't have a last modified date * Fix for row being selected which doesn't have a corresponding node ref * Fix for crash if a space is put in the quick capture file setting
