About Bird Scholar Midwest

This version of the popular BIRD SCHOLAR app provides a highly structured environment for learning the common bird songs of the Midwestern United States.

The states covered by the app include: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Three page views allow the user to inspect libraries of bird songs, learn songs through multiple choice interactions, and test the accuracy of identification by taking a 20 question BIRD SCHOLAR exam. Separate libraries can be selected for different habitats and family groupings. The user can create and edit a library of favorite birds.

The free demo library is expanded to include all birds commonly found in the Midwest by purchasing the Expansion Pack.

The app is a particularly powerful tool for teaching bird songs to young children, which we believe is related to a child's exceptional ability to learn human languages.

Detailed instructions can be found on the BIRD SCHOLAR website (www.oldcarriagebrewery.com/birdscholar.html).
