About BJ Bridge Beginner

This duplicate bridge game is specially designed for beginners learning the Acol system of bidding. It follows the "Bridge for All" Foundation Level recommended for students by the English Bridge Union (EBU).

As well as offering unlimited random deals, BriJ includes practice hands from the EBU "Red Book". All totally free!

At every stage the game offers hints and advice on bidding and playing the hand. There are automatic links to explain unfamiliar bridge terms, so you should never be left wondering what to do!

Connect up with other players. Practice bidding and playing as a partnership. Play anywhere without Internet access!

Updated to run on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, with support for new Apple devices, including iPhone SE 2nd generation and latest iPads.
New option to show your cards with suits re-aligned to Dummy. You may turn this off in ‘Bidding and Playing options’.
Refined bidding when choosing between a suit and NT contract. Improvements to suit length and strength inferences during bidding.
New set of deals designed for TOTAL BEGINNERS, kindly supplied by bridge teacher Jack Stocken, www.yorkshirebridge.co.uk.
Improvements when connecting with another player, after choosing to defend against your partner’s contract.
Cosmetic changes: increased font sizes for Help Tab links. Also from Help Tab, a “Review BriJ” link. Smoother display for STOP and ALERT cards. Better explanatory text within bidding hints. BriJ now supports the optional use of Dark Mode as introduced in the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS.
There are also several cosmetic changes to improve appearance in, for example, the icon bar, bidding box and options screens. The card table is enlarged to suit tall iPhones.
Fixes: removes spurious underlines on scoresheet; eliminates a problem with unresponsive BridgeWebs “download as pbn” (for iPad in landscape mode). avoids freezes when relaunching BriJ from a background state

You can now listen to music when playing BriJ. Look and feel is improved in the bidding phase. Auto play choices of ‘slow’, ‘medium’ and ‘fast’ now run at a slower pace. The auto button is disabled when necessary. Target tricks now only show if requested. Bidding and Play improvements as in the last version. Fixed a recent problem for devices where the language is not English. Other minor fixes and improved stability.
