Since 2017, Bloom has been at the forefront of Decentralized Identity development, when we created a proprietary attestation protocol and the developer tooling around it. Since then we've been actively working with the community, including authoring our first donation to the Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF) as an accepted standard.
To transition fully to Verifiable Credentials, we decided to deprecate our proprietary attestation format and adopt the new open VC standard. A Verifiable Credential (VC) contains of one or more claims made by an issuer in a tamper-evident credential, which can be cryptographically verified for authorship. It makes your BloomID more secure and more trustworthy than your physical id cards, and can be shared with and accepted by any organization adopting the VC open standard.
