We are back with a brand new feature for you!
ISO searching!
This has been one of our most requested features by our community and we’re really excited to be releasing this for you all! Heya!
We have some performance fixes and a change to the BTZ Wallet configuration!
We have removed the need for mobile verification to activate a BTZ Wallet, as well as the need for the 4-digit PIN to send BTZ. Since introducing BTZ in 2018, we have learned that the requirements for wallet activation and use have been a bit of a barrier to access, so we’ve smashed that wall down to make BTZ more accessible for all!

We have a small update for you today, containing a few bug fixes.
- Bug #1, when searching for a Community, we only showed you the first 10 results. We fixed it so that you can actually see all of the results, assuming that results are more relevant than a motionless loading spinner...
- Bug #2, when attempting to @mention someone right after adding an emoji, the app would crash. We figured we should fix this as emojis seem to be pretty popular these days!
- Bug #3, when you clicked on a push notification for being @mentioned on a post, the push would open the Bunz app, and from there I guess we just hoped you'd find your own way to your @mention. We did some things and now you'll actually land on the post you were mentioned on!
Other than bugs, we changed some UI in chats to be a bit friendlier on the eye. We also changed the colour of @mentions and links to be more consistent with each other across the app.
If you've read this far, the first 5 people to tag @tradepapi on the app on posts of size 11 used sneakers will receive 500BTZ from myself. :)

This update has some changes to the search UI. It will be a bit easier to switch between post and user search with a new type of tab system. It also prepares some space for us to be able to add a more tabs for a different kind of search coming soon!

Hello, Bunz faithful! We have a lot to tell you about today.
New features:
- When someone asks you “anything on my profile” (or anything similar) in a chat, you can now click on the underlined text to check out their profile!
- Did someone suggest a meetup time that works for your trade? Click on that text to add that time to your iOS calendar!
- Phone numbers are now actionable in messages to quickly call or text the number
- The review flow and reviews list got some nice UI, I like to think this design is 5/5 stars…
- The main sign up page, sign-up and log-in flows were entirely redone and are nicer than ever. You should tell your friends to check it out by getting them to sign up!
Bugs that are fixed:
- If you went to make an offer on a post, and the owner deleted that post before you hit send on the chat, your chat would get really confused and break. It knows what to do now.
- Clicking on the followers list on profiles sometimes showed no followers, but now it should. Which means you’re popular again! Or not.
- Sometimes when someone accepted your review request, your chat inbox wouldn’t update right away to let you know. Now it does update right away. Yay technology!

When you're searching for something, click the new bookmark icon to save that search and get a daily notification for posts that match your query.

Hello spooky Bunz. Do you want to play a game?
This update is mostly bug fixes and improvements, as well as some tweaks to surveys. The survey UI is a little different and you can now see which response you chose on the results page.
Fixed:
- Sometimes new messages wouldn't show up as unread. This was due to the inbox not refreshing itself in certain states. The inbox should be extra fresh from now on.
- If a post was missing coordinates to generate the map on post view, the app would crash. Now it won't! Yayyyyy.
- Sometimes when searching you would see a "something went wrong" error. We figured out what "something" was and we don't think it will go wrong anymore.

Hi Bunz! We're back with an update to introduce some new search filters
- Switch between the default Relevance algorithm (which orders posts that best match your query and filters out posts that only match because of ISOs written in the description), and Most Recent (which sorts posts chronologically)
- Select a specific category to filter your search by (AKA search "toaster" in Home -> Appliances, so you don't get toaster art, or the My Little Toaster movie)
- Toggle "Accepts BTZ" to only see posts with a BTZ price (BTZ is a really cool digital currency)

Everyone uses Bunz differently and we're all for it, while also allowing new users to increase their trust right away by showing they're a real person and not a Trolly McTroll.

Turning this on will enable the ability to tap on your wallet balance to blur and un-blur your balance. Blur your balance if you're worried about people peeping over your shoulder when paying at local shops with BTZ.

Happy Spring Bunz! We haven’t been hibernating, we’ve been working hard on something called BTZ. BTZ are a digital currency you can use to complete trades, as well as redeem for coffee, beer and more at any of our Shop Local merchants. Earn BTZ on Bunz by posting items to your profile and inviting your friends.
What’s new:
- What are BTZ? To learn more about the future of Bunz and BTZ we’ve added an explainer video in the home feed. Watch the video to the end for a little bonus :slightly_smiling_face:
- Send and Receive - Send and receive BTZ with anyone on Bunz. To send BTZ tap the yellow coin-shaped button in the bottom-left corner of your chat.
- Shop Local - See businesses near you that are accepting BTZ in the Shop Local tab, located second from the left in the main navigation bar. To kick off the Shop Local program we’ve partnered with 25 businesses in Toronto and will be adding more each week from here on out. If you’re not in Toronto, let us know your favourite businesses we should reach out to next!
- Your Wallet - Located in the far right of the main navigation bar. You’ll find your BTZ balance and a record of all your BTZ transactions.
Phew. What else?
- A map on post view shows the approximate area of the item (exact locations are never shown)
- Also new on post view: a view counter!
- The chats inbox got a little makeover
- A ‘completed trades’ section on profile. Mark a post as “trade complete” and it will move to the Completed tab on your profile, no more clutter! Which reminds me..
- Profile has also been redesigned. It looks nice. Thanks Eythan.
- A bunch of bugs have been fixed!

Today we’re releasing a new way to easily invite your friends to join you in the beautiful madness that promises to be Bunz in 2018 (mostly from what Bunz is already, but also from some exciting things we have planned!)

B-B-B-Bunz!
It’s that time of year when the balance in your bank account is dropping faster than the temperature. The good new is that Bunz is here to help! Update your app to browse 10 new collections curated by a team of dedicated robots whose sole purpose is finding you awesome items to trade for instead of pay for *spinning karate kick sound effect*
Our favourite collections so far are #GiftIt (for new and gift-worthy items), Antiques (for items that are old but still keep it real) and Games (to prove once and for all the Bunz isn’t just clothing and succulents!)
In other news:
- We fixed a boatload of bugs. Some optimizations for iPhone 10's new screen size. Also fixed a memory issue when browsing profiles that was affecting iPhones 5 and 6 models.
- You can share your new posts on Facebook even if you don’t have the FB app
- And we’ve updated all of our empty states with new images and bad one-liners. Unfortunately for you, you probably won’t see many of these if you’re already using the app since your states are no longer empty
- Lastly, we’ve installed a ticker in our office that dings every time someone signs up for Bunz. Our CEO says he won’t turn it off until the dings get so frequent that they turn into a sustained hum, so feel free to invite your friends..
