About BYU Hematology

*** Note: This app is only for BYU Students currently enrolled in MMBio 392 and 394. Other users will be denied access.

*** This app will download all the necessary files when you first open it.

The interactive hematology app was developed by Shauna C. Anderson Young, PhD and Keila B. Poulsen, BS, MLS(ASCP)CM, H, SH. The atlas is designed especially for medical laboratory technician or medical laboratory science students. It is also a great tool for students in nursing, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant programs and as a study guide for medical students or residents.

The high-quality images provide a study guide for the following areas:

· Red blood cell maturation
· Red blood cell abnormalities
· White blood cell maturation
· White blood cell abnormalities
· Megakaryocyte maturation
· Megakaryocyte/Platelet abnormalities
· Cells of the reticuloendothelial system

It is recommended that Anderson's Atlas of Hematology (second edition) be used in combination with the app. After a basic knowledge of cell morphology has been accomplished, interactive quizzes can be developed to confirm mastery.
Funding for this application was provided by a grant from the College of Life Sciences at Brigham Young University. It was developed by the Life Sciences Web Team. Technical problems or other comments can be submitted by email to interactivehematology@byu.edu.
