About Shades: Life & News
From news and politics to TikTok trends, relationship advice, sports, pop culture, and everything in between, Shades is the new and fun way for this generation to stay filled in.
Shades helps you understand an issue by giving you quick summaries of the different points of view on it.
Our team dives down the rabbit holes, reads the newspapers and magazines, scrolls the social feeds, and then explains and thoughtfully summarizes the different shades of opinion on it in everyday language, so that you can swipe and get the whole picture.
Is sunscreen safe? Do eldest children really have it harder? What’s happening with the latest indictment? Is inflation over? Should you wear shoes in the house?
The world isn’t black and white, and the answers shouldn’t be, either. This generation isn’t about this or that, but this and that (and that and that). We want more information, not less.
We contain multitudes. We want tech that’s actually cool and fun and that’s trying to make a positive impact.

Introducing Quiz Me! It's a new daily quiz game to test yourself on the latest happenings in news & culture.
Plus, several major bug fixes:
- Fixed Discord link in Settings tab
- Fixed problem where sliding back to previous screen is sometimes too difficult/sticky
- Fixed problem where shorter shades don't extend to the edge of the screen
- Hide shades page progress bar when you're looking as user takes or "up next" topics, for cleaner navigation
