ChirpOMatic can now recognise many more birds, and we have also partly added NightMode for iPhones running iOS 12 or higher. This reduces the glow from the phone when you open the app after dark, and means that you are less likely to scare away the singing bird.
Thanks to everyone who sent us recordings! You helped us to identify which birds we needed to add to the app in this update.

We have added features to make ChirpOMatic even easier to use. You can now choose to make recordings one after the other, without having to wait for each one to be analysed. This is useful if you are trying to capture the sound of a particular bird, and it is also useful if you want to conserve your phone data as you can wait until you have WiFi before analysing the sounds. Tap the ID button at the top of the screen to set it to "analyse now" or "analyse later".

ChirpOMatic has been updated to use our latest bird song analyser. As well as an increase in accuracy, it now identifies more bird songs and calls, and also the alarm call of the grey squirrel which is often mistaken for the sound of a bird. Thank you to everyone who has sent us a recording in the past year, they are invaluable. They help us identify which sounds we need to add as well as helping to improve the app's identification abilities. Please keep sending them!
