this release adds the new features and is considered a minor release:
1. defect reapirs
2. the user no longer needs to specify a name for predefined locations
3. the complete observation names are completely displayed instead of being truncated
4. there is now an alert mechanism to enable and disable alerts
5. a mechanism has been included to allow the user to review (and delete) photographs for the current observation
6. the user can now select between web mode layout and classic layout
7. beta release of Web Mode. The web mode layout is consistent with the citsci.org web site. Web mode is completely functional and is available for early adopters.

Release 3.0 of the CitSci app has been revamped to employ new icons and screens and to coincide with the release of identical changes implemented in the Android platform sibling app. Among these changes are a more consistent terminology and screen presentation also new to the Android platform. Finally, this revision implements iOS security features for accessing the camera. And, as always, known defects have been repaired.

release 2.1 adds features to the app to more closely align it with the features available on the citsci.org web site. In addition, open authentication has replaced the login process to increase security. The new features are:
