About Colorado Traveler

Colorado Traveler shows you the current status of major roads and highways throughout the entire state. By accessing Colorado Department of Transportation extensive road data, you can view traffic cameras, read alerts about construction and other road-related issues, get stats from weather stations, and read roadside signboard messages. We don't stop just with CDOT data; we also include cameras from Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. You can view road overlays that tell you weather-related driving conditions. You can read all those historical markers without getting out of your car! Also available is Google Traffic, just so you have all the data in one app.

Spelling correction + minor bug fixes
5.3
Jan 30, 2023
This minor release fixes these issues:

1. The highway labels disappeared when we upgraded the underlying map technology. This fix brings the labels back
2. We renamed the "Filter" tab back to "Legend". You can still filter the pins you see, but we felt the purpose of it is mainly as a legend, so we renamed it back.
5.2
Oct 27, 2022
This version updates the underlying Map software to get the latest bug fixes and improvements.
5.1
Apr 1, 2022
This update fixes a caching bug which causes camera feeds not to be displayed sometimes.

Changes from 5.0:

We've made many changes on both the backend and the frontend of the app:

• All layers are now free of charge
• You can change the map style to one of several options. Access from the Settings tab
• The Legend has been renamed to Filter. It still provides legend information, but you can also filter out certain markers you don't want to see
• News pins for most data layers
• Some high-volume markers are only visible at certain zoom levels. Turning on mile posts, for instance, may not display them immediately because there are too many. You need to zoom in to see them
• The refresh button has been moved from the Layers menu to a button right on the map, in the upper left corner
• Cleaned up the UI on the Search tab
• Added a brand new rest area layer
• Improved the UI on the truck restrictions details, and now showing all photos instead of just two
• Improved UI ion weather stations

This release fixes an issue with mile posts. That data is rather large, and it will lock up phones with less memory. So now mile posts are displayed using clustering: Multiple, nearby markers are clustered together into a larger marker. To see the individual markers, you need to zoom in, and the clusters will open up.

This release is for all you Colorado Truckers out there. We've added a few layers specific to trucks:

• Truck stops
• Truck speed ramps
• Truck restrictions
• Weigh stations

Also, CDOT has unfortunately removed support for snow plows, hopefully temporarily. Until those come back, we have turned off support for showing snow plows.
4.7
Oct 13, 2021
This is a quick bug fix release. One bug is severe enough that this update is required. Bugs fixed:

1. The rewarded video ad sometimes didn't work properly
2. Some screens didn't look right on iOS 15
3. Removed the speed overlay from the layers menu; it is no longer provided by Colorado DOT
4.6
Sep 22, 2021
Did you know you could get a free trial of most in-app purchases simply by watching a short video ad? No money, just a little of your time, and you get a full 24-hours of access to the feature. And you can do this over and over -- perfect for those features you use sparingly. This new version makes this functionality clearer.

And to start things off, we added a new layer: Alternate Fuel Stations. Give it a try. For free!

Aug 31, 2021
This is a mandatory update because the old server backing this app is going away in mid-September. This new version uses the new server. Also:

• Added a new mile posts layer that puts a marker on every mile post
• Fixed problem where chainups text was too big and getting truncated
4.4
Aug 3, 2021
This version improves responsiveness by using a new backend that fetches data more efficiently.
4.3
Oct 26, 2020
For all you dark mode users, this update fixes those text visibility issues when in dark mode.

Also there are a few other fixes and improvements, especially to the free trial screens. Did you know you can get a full 24 hours of free use of those for-purchase features? Give it a try; it's free!
4.2
Aug 12, 2020
Other than the usual bug fixes, the main story for this upgrade is support for live streaming traffic cameras. These are all over Denver and a few in Boulder. They will have a slightly different icon.
4.1
