About Cultures in Dialogue
The Majlis - Cultures In Dialogue official app is location based smartphone app which is used beacons to identify the artefacts nearby and displays more information about the object of choice. The app helps visitors to understand better the cross-cultural exhibition that recreates the atmosphere of a majlis—the space of hospitality and dialogue present in homes throughout the Arabian Gulf—offering guests the opportunity to exchange ideas about how much common ground exists between different cultures, and how these commonalities have been expressed in technology, art and culture.
The app also gives the possibility to the visitors to comment on the artefacts thus creating a dialogue and also share the exhibition on their social network. The application aims to deliver more information on the artefact so as to engage the visitors in more interactive way. The app will also serve as a gateway to a larger project that seeks to connect people, beliefs and cultures by offering a platform for respectful, yet incisive dialogue. Along with a program of conferences and educational activities, the exhibition is designed to encourage visitors to respond to what they see and to share their own stories, creating dialogue between East and West, between young and old, between the past and the future. All such events will be published on the app so as to keep visitors up to date with the latest news and events.
