We have of course been tinkering in the background to make sure our app is functioning in tip top form, but this update is all about bringing back a highly requested feature. Yes, swiping articles is back! You can now open an article, swipe left and read the next article, or swipe again and again, there is no end to the swiping fun one can have, oh… and we even track your position in the home feed, so when you are done reading, we’ll put you right back in the feed at the last article you looked at, Nice! Stay tuned, as we have much more in the pipeline.

This update is mostly a bug fix release, just stuff we have tinkered with, and things we have adjusted, all of which are too boring to talk about, but, rest assured they will make your experience marginally better... every little helps as they say. Although, if you do love an account creation process, then we have done some UI/UX work to make those much slicker and those things you can see.

This release is one of those “things” releases.

We’ve also fixed a few crashes that were being reported when getting to the end of an article and when opening the app.

We’ve promised you a big update for some time, and now it’s finally here. Check out the highlights below.

- Design: All new navigation and design.

- Home Feed: The news is now listed in sections to make your reading experience even easier. Plus you can skip to your favourite sections.

- My News: A brand new tab that allows you to create your own personalised news feed by adding your favourite topics. You can also see your saved articles and followed columnists.

We would like to say we are back with a bang for this release, but for most of you, this is just a mere maintenance release that fixes some bugs, and has some behind-the-scenes updates… you know, the yawn-inducing stuff. However, for those of you who love a full-screen image, then we have an all-new gallery experience just for you! Galleries now offer thumbnails of upcoming images, and have more gesture controls, among other cool things for you to enjoy while you pinch and zoom!

We fixed that annoying iPad crash some users experienced when you rotated the device whilst reading an article. We have also updated some behind-the-scenes logic that fixes some minor UI/UX issues and squashed a few more bugs for good measure. We have much bigger changes in the pipeline, so stay tuned, we think you are going to love them.

This update is small but significant. Firstly we have fixed more bugs, especially around stability. We also carried out some important maintenance in the background to make sure things run smoothly without issues.

It’s not all developer fun, this release also sees our Long Read articles get a lick of paint, they have been spruced up to show a bit more gravitas to the content.

Although not a big update this time, the team are hard at work on some very big app changes coming down the line. We can’t wait to show but until then, happy reading.

We've also fixed an issue some of you were having with loading and posting comments.

Have you been experiencing issues with commenting? Keep getting that “Oops” error when trying to post or even read comments? Yeah, that one, a pain in the neck right?

Well, we have managed to squash that nasty bug for the majority of cases, Just remember you need a display name to be able to post a comment, you can check if you have one by going to the My Account tab, and tapping “My Details”.

What this update does, is fix an issue that your audio playback was being taken over when using this app, no more will your listening pleasures be disturbed. We have naturally fixed some other pesky bugs too, but please continue to use the in-app feedback for the app if you are experiencing any issues. Until next time.

Here is a mighty fine maintenance update that resolves some issues a very small group of users were seeing.

Have you been logged in and tried to view the comments, only for them to simply not appear? If you did, then we believe that annoying bug has now been fixed. We also fixed some other minor issues and cleared out a few cobwebs.

As promised, we are back with a big update! So what goodies do we have for you this time?

1. Comment History! If you love to comment, and see how your comments are being received, then head to the My Account tab and you will see a new option to access “My Comments”. You can even load the original article from there too.

2. Have you ever tried to watch a Live Video only to find it doesn’t work? A right pain we know. This has now been fixed, so grab a snack and enjoy!

3. Finally, one for you techies, we of course fixed a bunch of bugs, updated dependencies and frameworks all to keep your experience silky smooth

It’s finally here! Yes, this release sees a major update to a popular feature.

- Today we are introducing a fully native version of commenting on our articles which will bring you a far better experience and solve many of the issues you, and we, have been facing up to now. We hope you like it and we aren’t finished here, we have more commenting updates in the pipeline which we will share in a future release.

- We have also made some UI changes, and bug fixes here and there to keep things running Tickety-boo.

This release is about fixing bugs and updating dependencies in the backend, to help reduce some crashes a few users have been experiencing. We have also made some additional fixes around logging in to commenting, that some users were experiencing.

We do have a much bigger commenting update on the way, with a whole new native experience and we can’t wait to share it with you. So hang there commenters, it’s almost ready.

This release has a lot of under the hood changes, mainly fixing stability issues a small number of users were seeing. You will also notice some UI tidying here and there around accessibility, fonts and other components in the app. We have added a new comments section to the footer, to make it easier to jump right into comments at the end of an article.

Also, on the commenting front, we know a lot of you have issues with the current version, but please bear with us, we are going to be bringing a whole new native experience very soon. It’s a huge task but we are closing in now on a launch, so keep an eye out for future updates.

This update is all about fixing some bugs on iPhone and iPad.

Did you notice if you played a video, scrolled down the screen and up again, the video had vanished into thin air? Well, we have soothed the video gods and everyone is happy now, we even made the video controls better too.

This quick fire release a couple of minor issues. From time to time the main image in the article was not loading, turns out, they don’t like odd characters in their URL, who would have guessed? Well, it's 100% happy now and will gladly show you the image you were dying to see. Also a few minor back end bugs have been fixed to make everything silky smooth. Stay tuned, we have another big update on the way, one that will please many of you we hope.

This release marks a huge update for the app, but mostly in a way that is not very visual. We have spent a huge amount of time rebuilding many of the sections to use modern code practices to give you the best experience now, and in the future. That's not to say you don’t get some nice little treats for you too, so here’s a couple of highlights

Accessibility has taken a huge step forward, we now respect your devices settings for accessibility font sizes, not just in the article view, but the entire app! We’ve made improvements to voice over too and there is still more to come.

Tool Tips have been introduced as a quick way to help you understand what some icons and features do, there will be more added in the future so keep an eye out for these.

There is so much more as well. We added new controls in “My Account” for setting the Apps Theme, Reducing Animations if you find them distracting and even resetting the tooltips if you forgot what a feature did. There are updates to video playback, Toolbars, tab bars, scrolling, swiping, memory usage, pretty much everything about the app has had some changes made.

This is just the beginning, we have some more big updates coming soon too, so stay tuned!

This release is a significant one, as it will be the last update for users who are on iOS12 and below. With the app improvements and features we want to add, we simply can’t do these things prior to iOS13. So please if you are able, update your device to iOS13 or above to continue receiving our app updates. Also in this release…

* Did the app crash when you sometimes tried to play a video? Yeah, we saw this happen too, very annoying and all fixed now.

* When changing the app theme, bookmarks would get annoyed and hide themselves. Not particularly helpful at all, but now they are happy again in any theme you set.

Our new release now fully supports Apple’s new Ads Transparency Framework due to be launched in iOS 14.5. This will give you the option to allow us track your activity in order to provide you with a better ads service and experience in the app. Being fully compliant puts the power in your hands and is right for our users. We have also fixed a number of things, especially our article fact boxes. We also have some big things in the pipeline which we are looking forward to sharing with you, so keep your eyes out for future updates.
