About Day Plus Minus Log and Monitor

WHY THIS APP:

The major goal of this App is to offer a simple method to record daily activities and thoughts of importance, and view records with ease. By reviewing records and reflecting on past observations, one may find patterns and clues for a better plan of action for tomorrow. This may equate to research with self, and reinforce awareness of what's happening everyday to possibly increase productivity and wellbeing.

This App may also be used for special purposes, such as keeping track of daily food types and usage, and exercises that may impact conditions like IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). One can easily view different categories of activities as a bar chart, list, or table of daily scores. This may help make adjustments based on recorded observations.

Version 1.2 has a “Ratio” function to compare two activities. This makes it feasible to use two activities to monitor something important to the user on a daily basis. Version 1.5 has iCloud function for data safe-keep.

'Qi' is a traditional Chinese medicinal theory on the internal 'force' that sustains life. Its central hypothesis is that when Qi is focused 'within' and moving smoothly to deliver energy to the whole body, life is healthy and prospers; else health is sub-optimal. Thus, Qi is well qualified to represent the energy level of the day as well as the main goal of this App. This App developer has personally enjoyed using and revising this App for more than 6 months.

WHAT DOES IT DO:

i) Take note of significant daily activities and thoughts, and view them easily based on categories;

ii) Preset buttons for adding activities and scores easily. Resettable buttons for viewing different activities conveniently;

iii) Find patterns in daily activities that may offer clues to better planning and wellness.

HOW TO USE IT:

i) Write down a short note of your significant activity during the day, and give it a score from 1 to 10; Use '(+)' button for things that have positive impact, and '(-)' button for things that have negative impact. Scores will be automatically recorded as positive or negative;

ii) Alternatively, use 11 'Preset' activities that you perform regularly, and then just use the '+' or '-' button to add a score. This saves time in typing on your device;

iii) On the 'Record' page, use the 'Search' button to search for anything in the record, and see its chart, short and long lists, and daily score table.

There are 11 resettable red or orange buttons to view a bar chart on your favorite activities, and then view the list of notes or daily scores table through the options embedded in the 'Search' button.

A fixed “Ratio” button displays Ratio2 in the records.
A “dolphin” button displays Ratio2 during the day.
Double tap of "@sum" button shows a list of @sum notes with the 'Most Popular Word".

OTHER APPS:

1. Taichi Expression - a serious and fun exercise program based on the idea that to be effective, exercise has to be practical, compatible, balanced, uplifting, and enjoyable, like an orchestra playing a piece of music in different movements on different pitches and tempos;

2. A Mindful Break - a slow, gentle exercise for an 8-min break from work (or home), a peaceful mind-body dialogue, and training for flexibility and health (possibly helpful for normalizing gastrointestinal functions), plus a 1-min scan of possibly most-talked-about news at the moment;

3. Numbers Hub - an App with large buttons and large fonts, and no crowded information in view, a personal information place to securely store login passwords, children's and grandchildren's birthdays, phone numbers and daily notes of important events, with seniors in mind but juniors can benefit, too.

Feb 7, 2019
1. Bug fix: when trying to get the Ratio2 of two activities, app crashes if there are only 1 or 2 days of data and the second activity has no data. This is now fixed. 2. Enhanced view of @sum activities. Notes with the "@sum" label are usually thoughts of importance. They are pooled together into a word list, and a word that has the highest count in this list is chosen as the MPW. The MPW may represent an issue of high importance. Notes with the "@sum" label AND the MPW can be specifically viewed now by double-tap of the original @sum button. The word list is first "cleaned" of some trivial words, such as "of", before being used to obtain the MPW. Occasionally some trivial words could still be chosen as the MPW. This aspect may be improved with future updates. 3. Bar chart display is shown with a date range instead of the original weekdays (except for the "1 wk" and "4 wk" buttons). The date range allows better comprehension of the data when there are missing days in the record.
1.2
Feb 7, 2019
1. Add “Ratio” button: Ratio of Two daily activities. This allows direct comparison of these activities during the day as well as in records, and adjustment of activities throughout the day to reduce or increase the ratio. 2. Bug fix: daily Qi score is updated more timely. 3. Button titles on "Record" view are more responsive to user "Preset" button titles.
