About Dayton New Student Programs

The Office of New Student Programs (NSP) at the University of Dayton is excited to welcome you as a part of the Flyer family! Our office plans and implements New Student Orientation (NSO), Transfer Student Orientation (TSO), Camp Blue, Weeks of Welcome (WoW), Family Weekend and January Orientation.

New Student Orientation (NSO)
Your University of Dayton experience begins with New Student Orientation! The four days are full of informative, educational and entertaining activities that will begin your acclimation to being a Flyer. Participation is required for all new first year students. We couldn’t be more excited to meet you and welcome you to your second home.

Transfer Student Orientation (TSO)
Transfer Student Orientation (TSO) is separate from NSO but runs concurrently and is designed specifically to meet transfer needs. Like NSO for first-year students the program supports the transfer student transition by helping to welcome and acclimate you to campus and Flyer life. Move-in for transfer students takes place on the Sunday morning prior to the first day of classes, and the transfer orientation program begins right after move-in finishes.

WoW
WoW is a three to five-week program that consists of educational and entertaining events designed to help you get acquainted with the University community and the city of Dayton.  As a first-year student, you are encouraged to attend as many WoW events as you can to meet new people and learn more about services, programs, and resources available to you as a member of the UD community.

Camp Blue
Camp Blue is a high-energy, action packed week exclusively for University of Dayton's incoming class of first-year students. Camp is designed to ease the transition into college while developing leadership skills and living the University of Dayton's philosophy of "Learn Lead, Serve".

Family Weekend
Family weekend is a great time to return to UD to visit your student and experience UD community spirit first-hand.  Events include a UD Football game, 5K run, cornhole tournament, casino night and most importantly, quality time with your student!
January Orientation

New Student Programs plans and facilitates the January orientation experience for all UD students beginning their college journey in the spring semester. The January program is a one-day blended program designed to transition first-year and transfer students (domestic and international) and their family members. All new incoming first-year students are required to attend, while all new incoming transfer students still have the opportunity to choose between attending the in-person experience or completing the online program.
