About Direct to Player
Direct to Player is a service for people with print disabilities in Canada who use their public library's CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) service or the CNIB Library. The accessible Direct to Player app connects directly to the library and loads DAISY audio books and magazines onto your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Just tap a title and start reading!
Features
• Connect directly to your public library's CELA service or the CNIB Library and load DAISY audio books and magazines onto your device automatically.
• Get up to 60 books a month.
• Start reading books you check out on the website immediately.
• Wake up to new titles from your holds list or automated suggestions based on your reading preferences (Mon-Sat).
• Stream when connected to the Internet or download to read later when you're not connected.
• Navigate by headings, pages or time intervals.
• Create bookmarks.
• Use with VoiceOver.
Customize playback settings for each book:
• Playback rate
• Time jump interval
Customize app-wide settings:
• Mobile network usage
• Download in background while streaming
• Playback rate
• Time jump interval
• Font type and size (includes Open Dyslexic)
• Accessibility hints
Registration for Direct to Player service
Direct to Player is a service of the Centre for Equitable Library Access and the CNIB Library. The service is available to people living in Canada with a visual, physical or learning disability that prevents them from reading traditional print. To register for CELA service, contact your public library. (Note: CNIB serves CNIB clients who registered for library service before April 1, 2014.)
