About EQ coaching

Want to learn more about distortion defences, or to explore how emotion can power your dreams. This app takes you on a journey with engaging games, reflective exercises and practical techniques all designed to enhance your understanding and skills, bringing these concepts to life.

We begin with the basics of feelings and their function, which is brought to life quite literally in the face of feelings and its expression of emotion. The goal to learn to recognise and influence how we feel, and understand just how, 'How we feel' influences 'How we act and interact'.

Topic 2 build on this as we unravel the power of perception, and the impact of our thoughts, so that we can manage our feelings and guide our actions more effectively. Taking games of spot the difference, and legal defence strategy we bring to life the basics of how this works, and open the door to key principals of emotional self defence as we learn to recognise and challenge distortions and negative thoughts.

The idea is to encourage you to see, feel and experience how easy it is to slip into the role where you put yourself down, blame yourself for things that are not your fault or predict a catastrophe where there is none.

We even encourage you to explore the possible outcomes of common beliefs and thoughts, with the practice sessions designed to have you imagine the most likely outcome. This is because understanding leads to the most effective kind of change, flexible change that is built on meaningful insight.

So the focus is on small bite size topics with a range of simple interactive challenges to encourage you to experience the principals and advance a more meaningful mindset.

Even social awareness looks to create a safe space for you to consider the impact of different interactions, to recognise where your own anxieties act as barriers to social success and try being mindful as you interview your client Bruce (from our trial case).

Designed to be both straight forward and engaging we have made it accessible for all. So no matter what your skill level, take a look around. These principals also form the foundation of later topics such as leadership, parenting and couple skills. But don't skip the basics. You can even explore some of the pages online at www.self-defined.com to get a taste.
