Just in time for the dog days of summer, Picniic has a fresh new ‘do. We’ve updated our dashboard to be more efficient, calmer, cooler, more collected, all those nice things you want when you’re sweating in the sun. We think you’ll enjoy the sleek new dashboard. Things look cleaner, simpler, and easier for everyone in the family.

Summer has arrived, and so have our latest batch of improvement for our newest feature, Parental Controls!
We’re now happy to announce that you can protect your family from unwanted content by turning on our customizable filter. We’ve created a database of offensive sites that you can block by default. With the flip of a switch, you can be sure that your kids are safe from accidentally stumbling upon harmful content on the internet.
We’re also adding a website whitelist, allowing you to set sites which can always be accessed, even when the internet is paused. You can use this safe list to make sure that your kids can always access important things like their school homework site, while allowing you to block out other distractions. We’ve also added a website blacklist, allowing you to block out custom websites.
Finally, we’ve added blocking for social media and videos. You can them individually, or the whole category, easy!

June is creeping around the corner, and after that it’s summer vacation! Always fun, always busy, Picniic is here to help make the chaos just a little bit less chaotic.
We’ve updated our Family Locator to work harder so you don’t have to. We’re introducing a request check in feature to allow you to send a notification to your family asking them where they are. The locator lets them easily share their whereabouts at the tap of a button. You can use our auto-post feature in conjunction with shared places to automatically get updates when family members arrive and leave.
Next, (and we hope you never need it) we’ve added the extra safety of an SOS button. When a family member triggers an SOS, you’ll receive a notification. If you’ve entered your email and phone number in your profile, you’ll also receive an email and text that includes the location of your family member when they sent the SOS. Keep in mind that the SOS won’t contact emergency services for you. We hope you don’t need it, but it’s always better to be prepared.
Finally, we fixed a pesky crash related to uploading photos that some of you brought to our attention. Thanks for letting us know about it!

Parental Controls is your newest, favourite-est tool for encouraging connection with your family. With Parental Controls, you can easily manage internet access on your children’s devices.
Features include:

All that extra daylight helped us spot a bug that we have squashed in this release. A few of you got in touch to let us know that your Google calendars weren’t syncing. This update will give you a heads up when there’s an issue with your account, and helps you fix it. We’d like to send a big thank you to all of our Picniic families that warned us about this. You really helped us nip this pesky bug in the bud!

After the languorous days of Summer, the chill of Autumn puts a little hustle and bustle in our steps. We’ve added 3 awesome new features to translate that hustle into Picniic:

That’s why we’ve updated the Photos tile to show a selection of your beautiful family members right on the dashboard. Like a warm hug, Picniic is here to brighten your day.
We’ve also been working on a big update. We’re keeping the details quiet for now to make sure it’s a surprise, but suffice it to say that you will be very excited to use all of the new features we’re building. Announcing Picniic’s Quick Start Guide!
We’ve received a lot of requests for an easy way to get your family account totally set up and ready to go. Today we’re announcing the launch of our Quick Start Guide!
The Quick Start guide will automatically be available for any new Picniic family as well is accessible from the Settings menu for all of our current families. In ten minutes or less you’ll get your calendars configured, chores and projects organized, reminders about important due dates and renewal dates set, and circles set up for coordinating with any co-parents or caretakers you share responsibilities with. The Quick Start guide is the ultimate checklist for the organized family.
We know you’re busy, that’s why we tried to make this the most efficient way to get your family ready to use Picniic. Spending ten minutes here will save you hours down the road. Now sit back, maybe grab a nice snack, and have the most productive 10 minutes of your day.

Picniic Feedback Update #6!
This round of reading and implementing your feedback has been focused around the Family Locator. We received requests to add a custom Family Place to the Locator as well as add more places. That’s exactly what we’ve done!
In this update you’ll find added functionality for the Family Locator as well as some optimizations around navigating the dashboard.

Imagine, if you will, a day in your new Picniic life. The kids got to school on time, dinner is ready because you weren’t missing any ingredients, and somebody actually remembered to walk the dog. This day went smoothly, just like every other.

We’ve built a whole new full-syncing calendar feature that allows you complete control over your calendars, whether they be Apple, Google, or Outlook, no matter where you are or what kind of device you’re using. We do it your way! New Calendar Syncing
This update comes after months of collecting feedback, sorting requests, and careful design. The result is a complete overhaul of how Picniic’s calendar plays with other calendars. Whether you need to sync, swap, or just subscribe, Picniic’s got you covered.
One of the best things about our Picniic families is that you are always sending us tons of feedback. To anyone that has ever sent us an email about a feature they want to see in Picniic, this one’s for you!
Feedback Request #1: Picniic’s calendar will sync into your device calendar at the press of a button - no more copying links and fiddling with settings.
• Anyone who has had to set up a calendar sync will know the pain of doing it manually. Never again!
Feedback Request #2: You can now customize your color for the calendar.
• We know you’ve been wanting this - we’ve seen all the emails about it. Well here it is! Each family member can choose the color that speaks to them
Feedback Request #3: Custom display settings for events from synced calendars
• You’ll be able to tell at a glance what calendar an event is from. Just one more thing to make your busy lives easier.
That’s not all though! Coming soon we’ll have updates that include popular requested items such as 2-way syncing, creating custom subscription links to the Picniic calendar, and more! Stay tuned for updates coming soon.

This update includes lots of improvements under the hood. You probably won’t be able to tell exactly what we did, but you should find your Picniic experience a little smoother and a little faster.

Circles are the best way for your family to coordinate with your extended family, caretakers and nannies, and other families. These private groups allow you to easily share out information from your Picniic account while keeping the rest of your family data private and secure.
