The decision to replace females in the beef herd is one of the most important decisions cattle producers make. A decision-aid was developed by the Southeast Cattle Advisor to assist beef cow-calf producers in making the most economical decision. It compares the economic value of purchased bred cows, purchased 3-in-1 packages (cow, calf, and cow bred back), purchased bred replacement heifers, and raised bred replacement heifers to help producers select the best method to replace or add females to their herd.
