Updating Group Privacy Settings on Geneva
We’re updating what it means to have a public and private group on Geneva. This update will make it easer for you to find the groups you’re looking for and for people to find the groups you’ve started. All groups will be searchable through discovery, but you’ll still need to approve all users who request to join your private group.
Make it a Meet Up
You’ll now see meetup suggestions right in the chat when someone proposes a time to hang out - making it easier to do fun things with the people in your groups. Anyone can make a meetup in Geneva and it will show up as an event in the calendar. You can use meetups to plan causal hangs, gauge interest from other people in your group, and throw together a plan without any pressure.

In this version, we've made a bunch of improvements to how Homes and rooms appear in the side menu, and moved the DMs button to make it easier to find. We've optimized scrolling in chat rooms so now when new messages come in, the whole thing isn't jumpy. On Polls, you can now see how many people voted overall. And last but not least, you can now edit Events!
We've also fixed a few bugs, including users appearing muted when they weren't and app badges not incrementing properly, and improved how Geneva works on smaller devices.

We’ve got another big release for you this week...
Introducing ROLES & PERMISSIONS.
Now you can create different ‘roles’ for different sets of members in your Home and control what permissions each group has.
For example, you could make a role called ‘Team’ and allow these people to approve members, add rooms, delete messages, and more…
You can also control permissions at the room level, including who can send messages in certain chat rooms (imagine an ‘Announcements’ room that you and your team can write in but is read-only for everyone else)
And of course, we’ve got some good bug fixes for you. This week we solved an issue with verification codes, fixed some wonkiness around muting yourself in audio rooms, and polished up a few small visual glitches.
