Photo picker
The photo picker now directly shows all photos by default without requiring you to select an album first. 99% of the time, that's what you want! You can still navigate to albums if needed.
Clarified document export status
Until today, Genius Scan denoted the "status" of documents with a colored dot next to each document. This feature is aimed at letting you know that your document has been successfully exported.
As some of you rightfully told us, this could cause confusion as it conflated each document’s Genius Cloud sync status with its export status.
With this update, Genius Scan separates the two statuses.
Export Status
When you export a document (through Email or to Google Drive or Dropbox…), you will see a corresponding icon on each document denoting the successful export to the chosen export destination. Should an error happen, this icon will turn red, and you can open the document to see why.
Genius Cloud Sync Status
We've added a new Genius Cloud status screen (accessible by tapping the button at the top left of the document list). This screen shows you at a glance when Genius Cloud last synced and if any document is pending export.

- Tweaked the design of the document list. It's a subtle change but we love it, so if you're eagle-eyed, let us know what you think!
- Tweaked the design of all configuration screens for a more modern look.
- Improved the performance of receipts and business card recognition.
- Fixed a potential crash when exporting to SugarSync.

Features
Improved Text Recognition
Genius Scan can now rely on Apple Vision as a text recognition engine, leading to much faster and more accurate text recognition. Genius Scan still offers support for all the languages that Apple Vision doesn't support yet. The switch will be transparent.
Curvature Correction
Genius Scan introduces curvature correction, which lets you correct the curvature of documents, especially when you scan books. The option is available by tapping the Edit button on any scanned document and then toggling the curvature correction option.
Only show documents when importing scans from your Photos
When importing images from your photos, you can now only display photos that look like documents. This AI-based feature can save you much time when importing scans from your photos.
Genius Scan adds another cleverness to this feature: it will only crop and enhance the document if it looks like an uncropped or unprocessed document.

Genius Scan, like most apps, used Google Analytics to gather some general usage data about the app: How many users are using Genius Scan every month? How often a feature is used? Do we see an abnormaly high error rate? What third-party export plugins are the most popular? This helps us focus our efforts on what's most useful to our customers.
Privacy is important to us personally, and we want to treat our users the way we want to be treated. While we had disabled all the aggressive features of Google Analytics and were not sending any personal data, we still had in mind to go a step further.
We're happy to say we've removed Google Analytics in Genius Scan 7.14. Genius Scan now uses TelemetryDeck, an analytics service that makes no compromise on privacy while still enabling us to understand what features are used and where we can improve the app.

- Prevented an error causing the Genius Cloud servers to not see your recent purchases.
- Removed a memory leak when synchronizing with Genius Cloud.
- Fixed an issue where the "root" path wasn't properly taken in account in some instances when exporting to WebDAV.

Genius Sign Integration
We noticed that many of you wanted a convenient way to annotate or sign documents and were not aware that we also offer another app to do just that, Genius Sign. With this release, we have tightened the integration between Genius Scan and Genius Sign, enabling you to annotate a scanned document with a single tap in the document screen.
Smart Document Renaming
Smart Document Renaming now includes data detected in receipts and business cards. For instance, if you rename a receipt, you will be able to use the merchant name or the receipt's date with a single tap.
Auto-Export to Any Folder in Files (including iCloud Drive)
We are excited about this feature as it resolves a long-standing limitation of Genius Scan. Auto-Export to iCloud Drive has been replaced by Auto-Export to Files. This is much more powerful, allowing you to export to folders in iCloud Drive and any other location exposed in the Files app. Previously, Auto-Export to iCloud Drive was limited to exporting to the Genius Scan folder in iCloud Drive. If you already have an iCloud Drive auto-export configured, it will continue working as usual.

- Introduced a new search screen, which can be accessed just as quickly as before. Moving the search to a separate screen will allow us to make specific improvements to the search in future updates.
- Added a toggle in the Settings that allows you to disable Smart Data, which includes receipt and business card detection.

- Optimized the app's size. We have managed to shave off more than 25 MB! While Genius Scan was already slim compared to other apps in its category, this means being transferred over the network and less storage space occupied on your device.

In Genius Scan 7.10, we have addressed several long-standing feature requests that will significantly enhance your user experience, particularly for those with more advanced business needs.
New Document Name Template Editor
Document name templates are a powerful feature of Genius Scan, allowing you to customize how your documents are named and create distinct naming patterns.
With document name templates, you can modify the date format used in your document titles, include a client's name in all your document names, or even specify a location.
We have completely overhauled the new document name template editor, making it easier to create templates through drag-and-drop functionality, resulting in a more streamlined user experience.
You can access the new editor in the Settings menu under General > Document Name Templates.
Auto-Crop Imported Documents
When importing scans from your Photos, Genius Scan will now automatically crop any detected document. This means that if you snap a document with your device's camera and then import it in Genius Scan, it will be cropped automatically, saving you quite a few taps. Auto-crop on import is on by default, but you can toggle it off if desired.
Support for Dropbox Team Folders
Genius Scan now offers support for Dropbox Team Folders, a feature that enables business teams to easily share documents with a group of people. You can now export documents directly to Dropbox Team Folders.

New Document Name Template Editor
Document name templates are a powerful feature of Genius Scan, allowing you to customize how your documents are named and create distinct naming patterns.

When importing scans from your Photos, Genius Scan will now automatically crop any detected document. This means that if you snap a document with your device's camera and then import it in Genius Scan, it will be cropped automatically, saving you quite a few taps. Auto-crop on import is on by default, but you can toggle it off if desired.
Support for Dropbox Team Folders
Genius Scan now offers support for Dropbox Team Folders, a feature that enables business teams to easily share documents with a group of people. You can now export documents directly to Dropbox Team Folders.
