Berkshire Live 9.2.4 Update
2024-03-26
We have of course been tinkering in the background to make sure our app is functioning in tip top form, but this update is all about bringing back a highly requested feature. Yes, swiping articles is back! You can now open an article, swipe left and read the next article, or swipe again and again, there is no end to the swiping fun one can have, oh… and we even track your position in the home feed, so when you are done reading, we’ll put you right back in the feed at the last article you looked at, Nice! Stay tuned, as we have much more in the pipeline.

This update is all about fixes.

A small number of our users who use their account across more than one of our apps, have logged in only to see their saved topics all go missing, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We are sorry this happened, and we have fixed that bug to make sure it doesn’t happen in future - You can head to the My News tab to set those up again.

We have also fixed a number of visual elements and things behind the scenes to improve the experience.

Stay tuned as we have more improvements and fun stuff in the pipeline.
8.3.5 2023-04-17
We would like to say we are back with a bang for this release, but for most of you, this is just a mere maintenance release that fixes some bugs, and has some behind-the-scenes updates… you know, the yawn-inducing stuff. However, for those of you who love a full-screen image, then we have an all-new gallery experience just for you! Galleries now offer thumbnails of upcoming images, and have more gesture controls, among other cool things for you to enjoy while you pinch and zoom!
8.3.4 2023-03-22
From time to time we release maintenance updates that fix some things and lay the foundations for things to come. This release is one of those “things” releases. We fixed that annoying iPad crash some users experienced when you rotated the device whilst reading an article. We have also updated some behind-the-scenes logic that fixes some minor UI/UX issues and squashed a few more bugs for good measure. We have much bigger changes in the pipeline, so stay tuned, we think you are going to love them.
8.3.1 2023-02-01
This update is small but significant. Firstly we have fixed more bugs, especially around stability. We also carried out some important maintenance in the background to make sure things run smoothly without issues.

It’s not all developer fun, this release also sees our Long Read articles get a lick of paint, they have been spruced up to show a bit more gravitas to the content.

Although not a big update this time, the team are hard at work on some very big app changes coming down the line. We can’t wait to show but until then, happy reading.
8.2.0 2022-09-26
This one is a big release! Not only are we back with new features, but we fixed some annoying bugs too, here are the highlights:

Discover is under going a make over, and in this release sees the first of some new UI changes. Your followed authors and tags are displayed in a whole new way to make discovering new articles even easier. This is just the first step in a bunch of updates that we have coming for Discover in future.

We have also fixed a bunch of bugs including one for iPad, which puts the close icon back in its rightful place after it went walk about. Also you can no longer include spaces in your Display Name for commenting, and we have fixed a bunch of other smaller UI and code bugs to give this release its well earned 8.2 release number.
8.1.1 2022-08-15
What this update does, is fix an issue that your audio playback was being taken over when using this app, no more will your listening pleasures be disturbed. We have naturally fixed some other pesky bugs too, but please continue to use the in-app feedback for the app if you are experiencing any issues. Until next time.
8.0.2 2022-06-30
This release is an important one. This will be the last release for iOS13, it was a tough decision to make, but in order to advance the app we need to move to new technologies that aren’t available for iOS13. To continue receiving future updates with all new features and more, please update your device to iOS14 or above.

So for this final iOS 13 supported release:

- We have an all new navigation style that pins to the top of the view when you scroll… it's really rather lovely!

- We have a new large article preview format, for our first top story on iPad. This we think, uses the space better and we hope you like it.

- We have added new topic recommendations into top stories, so you can see what else is going on in other news that might interest you.

- And of course, we fixed a bunch of bugs, made more optimisations for speed, and completed some UI updates for good measure.

We have some really cool updates in the pipeline, so keep an eye out for more, and remember - to download them you will need iOS14 or above.
6.2.8 2020-03-24
This update is very much a maintenance release, fixing some issues and laying some foundations for future updates.
6.2.7 2020-02-25
Whats new in this release:
- This update provides some much needed back end changes to make your experience faster and more robust
- We have made some smaller design changes here and there in order to improve discoverability of features
- We have laid the foundations to support Sign in with Apple, so you can use your secure Apple ID to register and sign into a free account.
6.2.6 2020-02-06

6.2.5 2020-01-27

6.2.4 2020-01-16
Happy New Year! So, we would like to announce a huge new update to kick off 2020, but this one is just a boring old bug fix release. Fear not readers, the code heads are beavering away on some shiny new things, so stay tuned.
6.2.3 2019-12-17
This update is all about fixing things, our little elves have been busy behind the scenes sorting out a lot of things that were wonky.

• Dark Mode will now respond no matter where you are in the app - because, well it should do - our bad.
• Have you been in an article and seen content jumping up and down? No... okay well you won't now either.
• Lots of minor fixes here and there, too many to mention and mostly only the developers understand.
6.2.1 2019-10-10
Here is a super fast update, to fix a known iOS 13.1 issue. So if you have been browsing an article and suddenly you were whisked off to a whole new page without consciously tapping a link... then this build is for you, because we stopped that. Now browsing and tapping is what you would expect. Sweet!
6.2.0 2019-10-07
We have made some more improvements to the app to help with your experience.

• Dark Mode for iOS 13 now works in tandem with your devices dark mode setting, but can also still be on/off independently.
• We updated the tablet view for Discover and made some minor tweaks for the iPhone view while we were at it.
• At the bottom of articles we added a list of all the tags associated with that story so you can find related content more easily.
• Speaking of the bottom of an article everything there, now loads with a snap, no more waiting for content to load.

We also improved some additional minor UI elements and fixed some bugs as well. Nice!
6.1.0 2019-09-18
We have a big update for you today, here are just some of the highlights:

• Dark Mode! Yep we support iOS13 Dark Mode setting! If you don't have iOS 13, you can still use dark mode by setting it manually in the app under the "My Account" tab.
• Saving a Tag! Finding related content using tags is great, but now you can save your favourite tags to get to that content even faster.
• Discover Updates! Access your saved Tags and saved Authors from the Discover view and we also gave Discover a quick lick of paint too.
• Stability improvements across the board, especially for legacy iOS devices.
• Many smaller UI and code improvements to make your experience better.

We have even more in the pipeline as well, exciting times, so stay tuned!
6.0.7 2019-09-03

We have been promising a big update has been coming for a long time, and now finally we can say it's here! Below are just a few highlights available in our all new app
• Brand new Tap a Tag feature! Just like reddit you can tap tags in article teasers or articles in order to discover more related content, it's a whole new way to navigate and find the content you like in the app!
• An all new cleaner design for iPhone and iPad to help you find and read articles that interest you.
• You can now select the contrast colour of the type in articles, giving you a more personal reading experience
• A new comment history section has been added to My Account, so you can find all the comments you made in past articles.
• Speaking of comments, we have completely over hauled the experience to make it easier to see the latest comments first, a better way to see replies to comments and subscribe to your comment, so if you get a reply we'll notify you.
• The app has been rebuilt from the ground up to work on modern frameworks and architecture in order to fix all those annoying bugs in the previous version of the app

We aren't stopping there, we have even more new features on the way and enhancements to olds ones, stay tuned it's going to be a big couple of months!
