In the next weeks, the old SRTM3 map data will be updated in America, so that the entire world map will be available in the app.

The old data source of the previously used NASA SRTM3 data is unfortunately no longer available, so we had to switch to a different data source. The new data from the ASTER elevation model from August 2019 (METI / NASA) are significantly higher in resolution, but we will not be able to increase the resolution for the mobile app at this time so that older devices will continue to work with the app.

Thus, the old 3D tile maps no longer match the newly created tile maps. We'll fill up the missing parts of the earth and update the old tile maps afterwards.

We've added a new mode for viewing NASA SRTM elevation data. From these data, the first high-resolution 3D maps are released with this update. We start with European countries in the west: United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Denmark.
The 3D maps are interactively changeable. The height can be multiplied for a better representation of smaller height differences in flat areas. The lighting can also be changed by the user to get the best view of the desired map.
To view the 3D maps, the 8K Pass is necessary. Try out the free demo for all users: Sicily with the volcano Etna.
