New Features
Transfer Hotspot v2
A new way to transfer Hotspots is now available on the app. Now transferring Hotspots is as easy as sending a payment transaction. Hotspot sellers can initiate the transfer from Hotspot Settings, the same as before, but instead of waiting for the buyer to accept the transaction, the transfer is immediately submitted to the blockchain. Once cleared, the buyer will see the new Hotspot in their app. When the transfer is successful, both buyers and sellers will receive a notification.
Earnings Map Filter
Now available on the app, the earnings map filter introduced in Explorer in January can be found by tapping the Map Layers icon on a Hotspot details view. Other map filters include Transmit Scale, Witnessed Hotspots, and Coverage.
Hotspot Year to Date earnings
See how much your Hotspot has earned this year by going to a Hotspot and tapping **YTD**.

Deployment Mode
- Ever need to hand your phone to someone for installation but don’t want them seeing your seed phrase, use the wallet payment functionality, or transfer Hotspots? Now you can! With deployment mode, users can “lock down” their app by hiding or disabling all sensitive information. To enable deployment mode, go to Settings > Deployment mode.

Check that payment transactions are to a valid wallet address
- We’ve had a few mishaps where users sent HNT to a Hotspot or Validator address. We now have a check in the app to make sure it’s a valid wallet address.
Scan QR Code to Assert Location
- Another Michael Brew contribution - users can now generate QR codes to assert a Hotspot’s location, simply by going to the QR Code scanner, scanning a code, and it magically populates the update Hotspot location fields.
Check the Sender is the valid owner for scanned QR Payments
- The final Michael Brew contribution, if you generate a QR code that has an embedded payment transaction with a sender address, the app will verify that the logged in account matches the sender before proceeding.
Validator Filters
- If you have owned or followed Validators, they now show up on the Home screen lists.
New Makers to Onboarding
- We’ve added PantherX and hummingbird as new options to add a Hotspot to the Helium network.

Forget Wi-Fi Network
- This feature allows users to forget a wi-fi network that the Hotspot has remembered, so that you can either update the password, or connect to a new network
- To forget a network, tap the Hotspot settings, pair with the Hotspot, and tap the network name. The app will cycle through all the networks profiles saved on the Hotspot until they're all forgotten. Then you can connect to a new network.
Updated Assert Location
- We've updated the UI when a user sets their location. It will also show how much HNT needs to be burned in order to update location.
- A reminder: All Hotspots come with 1 free add_gateway and 1 free assert_location transaction when purchased from Helium.

Removal of GPS Status
In our last release 1.9.0, we introduced and experimental feature on a Hotspot's GPS status that was meant to be informational.
It was clear to us that GPS was not a useful metric to validate Hotspot coverage as satellite positions change, clouds get in the way, or if a tree happened to sway in the wind.
Because of this, we are removing the GPS information and will not depend on it to determine a Hotspot's ability to earn HNT.
Some other updates:
- We've updated the API used under the hood.
- You may notice Hotspot Activity loading take a bit longer. We've changed how that information is loaded so that the rest of the app is speedier, and swiping between Hotspots is less buggy.
- Wallet now supports sending payments using payments_v2 transaction types.
- Fixed a crash when viewing a "Confirm Location" transaction on the accounts page

GPS Information
- Does your Hotspot have a GPS fix? Now we let you know. Hotspots need a clear view of the sky, with the black disc facing up. If you don't get a fix, no worries! Fixes can take time as the satellites the Hotspot is trying to see moves around.

Hello Helium Community!
In this updated, we added filters to Hotspot activity. Now you can filter by the type of activity your Hotspot has done, including participating in challenges, creating challenges, and (new!) transferring data packets on the network.
Wondering if your Hotspot has transferred data packets? Wonder no more. Don't see any activity? If you have a LoRaWAN device, you can test it out yourself to see how it works. Don't have a LoRaWAN device and want to join in the fun? Join the Helium Community and learn how to set one up.
If you have sent or received a payment v2 transaction, you can now see it displayed in the mobile app. Payment v2 transactions allow the sender to send HNT to multiple recipients with one command in the CLI.

Hello Helium Community!
In this release, we included big changes to our notification system that you’ll start to see more of in the coming weeks. Soon you’ll receive information about your Hotspots, earnings, and more.
Also in this update the introduction of “Witness too close”. What does this mean? It means if a Hotspot is within 300ft of witnessing a Hotspot transmit and reports it to the challenger, the Hotspot will not be included in the witness list of that challenge. When a witness is considered too close, they will appear as grey in that challenge. Witnesses too close will not earn HNT.
This update also removes the alert Hotspots get when their score declines, updated terminology in diagnostic reports, and other small bug fixes.

Hotspot Diagnostic Report
This new feature allows you to run a diagnostics report on your Hotspot - check on its inbound and outbound connectivity, its sync status on the blockchain, and unique details about your Hotspot to send to support when you need to. To check this out, go to your Hotspot’s Setting and run diagnostics report.
Hotspot Status
We’ve made several improvements at how the Hotspot communicates its status to you. Is it connected? Is it synced to the blockchain? Now we show that information for every hotspot you own. The Hotspot also has a more reliable and realistic Online/Needs Attention status indicator, so no more false alarms.

New Notifications - Learn how many tokens you’ve mined every week from your Hotspot.
We’re no longer displaying scores from Hotspots in the app simply because it was a little confusing and because we’re revamping how scores are calculated. Until then, your Hotspots will continue to participate in challenges, mine tokens, etc. Everything is business as usual. We just won’t show the scores.
In the Network tab, when viewing a list of challenges, now you’ll know the city where challenges occurred.

Users with iPhone 6s were unable to confirm their Hotspot’s location because the size of the data packet transferred over bluetooth was too large. We adjusted the size of the packet and users are now able to set their Hotspot’s location.
Reduced the time ago indicator to say mins instead of minutes, keeping activity types like “Joined Consensus Group” from touching other text.
Users were not asked to pair with a Hotspot if it was recently paired, resulting in failed confirm location transactions. We’ve fixed the timeout of the pairing process so that a fresh connection is established every time.

- Sometimes the app will crash when you view a consensus group transaction in the block explorer. It doesn't crash anymore.

The language around using Ethernet wasn't clear. You don't need to wait for the green LED light to appear to know that ethernet is working.
