About HELM Alumni

Harvard Entrepreneurs, Leaders and Managers (HELM), which was founded in 1993, is a community of over three hundred and sixty three alumni (increases by 20 or so every year) of the Harvard Business School based throughout the world, dedicated to exploring, developing and promoting the highest standards of ethical leadership. Members of the HELM community comprise leaders in all areas including business, government, philanthropy, civil society and the arts.

HELM members are annually elected based upon their leadership experience and track records and their commitment to a vision of leadership that is based on diversity, ethics, and social responsibility and united by a common passion to shape the future and to lead at the frontier of change.

The HELM community is diverse by design and its members represent all major regions around the world. Major HELM communities are based in the North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, although HELM is also well represented by its membership in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.

From its establishment twenty three years ago HELM has organised a diverse range of activities to explore leadership both at Harvard Business School and internationally through deep engagement with leaders from all spheres of life including heads of state, political leaders, heads of major corporations, civil society leaders and peers from all walks of life. Twenty three years on, HELM counts many such leaders in its own membership.

HELM recognises that the world has changed immeasurably even in the two decades since it was founded and that such change is accelerating. We exist to help lead that change, not just respond to it, and to do so with a vision of leadership that is based on creating societal value at every level in a deep, inclusive, ethical and sustainable way.

At the heart of HELM is the recognition that it is not enough to create personal success, recognition and distinction – that the measure of true leadership lies in that which we contribute to our societies and to the world around us throughout our lives. Through its activities, HELM seeks to inspire and support the best in each of us, to help us lead lives we can be proud of and to leave behind a legacy of contribution that endures.
