About HLP

Health Lifestyle Program (HLP) is a cognitive behavioural program that promotes improved general health using online interactive sessions for smoking cessation, diet and exercise. The course encourages you to examine and identify your current lifestyle and then change any habits you may have concerns about. You can use an interactive Lifestyle Inventory as a guide to help identify your current concerns. Specific guidance on how to handle issues like smoking, getting more active and eating properly are provided in the program.

This is the first “Well Being” program to be proven in real world randomized controlled trials to be efficacious.

The “smoking habits” module offers practical advice and support and also allows you to experience the emotional and physical benefits of reducing smoking. You can calculate smoking costs, set smart goals, and list things that are both good and bad about your lifestyles.
The “getting more active” section demonstrates how 30 minutes of physical activity can be accomplished on most days of the week. You are encouraged to examine your current activity and then get feedback and advice.
The main features of "healthy eating" are variety, moderation and balance. You will learn about the five food groups, how to control portions, how to plan and shop for meals and lastly how to vary their diet to achieve best results and balance.
In "healthy moods" you will learn the importance of recognizing unhelpful thoughts and how to best handle these thoughts when the come.
