IBM Aspera Uploader Mobile

This version adds support for adding tags to a session. Tags can be created by the user and can be enabled on a per session basis. Enabled tags are submitted to the server upon upload.

This is a MAJOR new version with a new user interface and significant functional changes, primarily the ability to send multiple items in a single upload, support for uploading from other apps via Share from those apps, and support for multiple Aspera destinations.

New features:

• Upload multiple files in a single upload -- The app now allows multiple items to be sent in a single upload. New items can be added to an upload before sending, and individual items in an upload can be deleted from an upload. Thumbnails are shown where practical for each item, and the user can scroll between the various thumbnails to verify that the correct data is being uploaded. The thumbnail display shows the number of the current item and the total number of items to be uploaded.

• File name handling -- Individual files can be renamed after being added to an upload, and an option on the upload further allows a prefix and/or suffix to be added to all uploaded file names. This allows a set of files to be uploaded with common prefixes or suffixes in their names.

• Support for Share from other apps -- The app can now be used from inside of other apps that support Share, for example the Photos app. Select a set of items in the other app, then use Share within the other app to pass those selected items to the upload dialogue for sending.

• Ability to upload items from apps that expose their content to other apps -- The upload picker control now allows you to choose items from apps that expose their content to other apps, for example Keynote, Numbers and Pages. Instead of using Camera or Photo Library in the picker, tap Browse to access files from other apps that expose their content.

• Multiple Aspera destinations now supported -- Multiple Aspera destinations can now be configured in the app, and then selected when doing an individual upload. A destination is a remote host or IP, username and password credentials, and an optional upload path (i.e., directory). Basic validation is performed against the host and user credentials to ensure that the basic account information is ok before actual uploads are attempted to the destination. A new destination can now be defined even in the midst of a new upload, allowing the destination to be configured without impacting the chosen items to be uploaded.

This is a small bug-fix version.
• Changed the image gallery order so that most recent pictures appear first
• Improved NAT64 support for use on certain carrier networks that use custom IPV6 prefixes

This is a small release primarily targeted at fixing some bugs related to running on newer iOS versions. Note that this app now requires iOS 8 and above.

Important bug fixes:
• Photo picker on iPad shows black thumbnails. (#35826)
• Crash when encoding of videos containing Apple Lossless audio. (#36157)
• The scrolling to show the keyboard can hide or partially hide the settings field being edited. (#36220)
• Filetype in a preset will be ignored and Filetype from Custom Encoding main settings will be used instead. (#36249)

Enhancements:
• Compatibility with IPv6 DNS64/NAT64 networks.
• The app now supports 64-bit iPhone and iPad devices.
• The app is now a universal app supporting iPhone and iPad (in basic form).
• Buttons and other controls in the settings are right-justified.
• When settings changes are required to access the media library or the camera, the app will now take the user directly to the Settings app.
• The email to send log files to Aspera now references the timezone in the time of the email.
• The device UUID is no longer displayed in Settings since the SDK no longer returns the real device UUID.

Bug fix release addressing some crashes, memory leaks and upgrade issues found with the earlier 2.0.0 version, including:

• Default SSH port is now 33001 to be consistent with other Aspera client apps.
• Crash when encoding video with no audio.
• Crash after video encoding fails.
• Crash encoding video with linear PCM audio.
• Intermittent crash scrolling in Settings to the ABOUT section.
• Intermittent crash after returning from media picker.
• Memory leak after cancel of upload.
• Target rate slider can show extreme values after upgrade.
• Even though minimum rate is now 100 Kbps, after an upgrade the target rate slider could show lesser value if that is what user had previously set.
• Wording for prompt to user to enable access to Photos specified wrong product.
• On iOS 7 and above, all devices were reporting the same device ID string.

This is a major release focused on giving the user more control over video encoding settings.

Enhancements include:

1. Adds ability to have custom video encoding settings, including the ability to save encoding settings as named “presets” which can then be selected for individual uploads. This offers the user finer control of the video encoding. The settings than can be controlled and formed into presets are: bit rate, frame rate, keyframe interval, scaling the size by percent, specifying height and/or width, and specifying the file type of the output (mov, mp4, m4v).

2. Adds new “highest” setting for standard (non-custom) video quality. This setting calls for no encoding of the video, allowing the user to send videos in their full form.

3. The attributes of the Low, Medium and High standard video quality settings have been changed to create more distinct differences between these settings and the Highest setting.

4. A video shot with the camera or selected from the Photos gallery now shows an actual thumbnail of the video rather than the generic “filmstrip” image, allowing the user to confirm that the correct video is selected.

5. All videos shot with the in-app camera are now saved in the gallery at full resolution, regardless of the encoding settings in force for the upload.

6. Default rates for phone and WiFi networks have been raised to 2 Mbps and 50 Mbps, respectively; the overall max rate is now 100 Mbps.

Bugs fixed include:

1. The app would always use a fasp MTU size of 1492 regardless of what the path MTU discovery said to use. This could cause issues when the network has a maximum UDP datagram size limit less than 1492. Now the path MTU size is used where possible.

2. Some issue with incorrect image orientation have now been corrected.

3. Various display issues on iOS 7 have been corrected.

This is a small release intended to support the iPhone 5 (4" retina) device type and iOS 6.

Enhancements include:

1. The iPhone 5 device form-factor (4" display) is now supported. Image thumbnails in a vertical (portrait) orientation will now appear bigger on this type of device.

2. The Uploader no longer access the device UDID (unique device ID) per Apple guidelines.

Bugs fixed include:

1. On iOS 6, the user can receive a popup error noting that the network connection failed, even when the upload transfer worked.

This is a bug fix release to address some issues found on iOS 5. Bugs fixed include:

1. On iOS 5 the main app view may be shifted after return from the photo/video picker.

2. On iOS 5 the user will not be able to use all configured keyboards (e.g. Chinese-Simplified, Hebrew) to enter text settings and file names.

3. Possible EXC_BAD_ACCESS crash when using a UTF-8 encoded username.

4. Include Uploader app version information in "send logs" email.

5. Update known device models to include new devices like the iPhone 4S.

Uploader 1.1.1 introduces these new features:

• You can now interrupt an active upload by things like an incoming phone call or leaving the app to use another application with the upload continuing in the background for as long as iOS lets it (typically 10 minutes). If the upload cannot complete in the allotted time, it will restart automatically when your return to the app.

• You can now name the uploaded file on the destination Aspera server, or a default of the date/time will be used for you. This is controlled by the "Name File" app setting.

• With another new setting ("Automatic Upload"), you can have the app automatically start uploading as soon as you select an image from the photo library or camera.

• The 10 minute limit has been removed for videos shot with the camera from within the app.

• The network activity indicator (in the device's status area) is now shown during uploads.

Bug fix release with no new functionality.

Fixes:

1. Intermittent SIGSEGV/SIGBUS crash immediately upon pressing the Upload button. (#6905)

2. Another intermittent bug where the progress view is mis-positioned to the top of view and covering part of last-taken photo. (#7338)
