New in this update:
• To increase sensitivity, all findings (signs & symptoms) were checked against three online books of infectious diseases plus the GIDEON database.
• The three online books are Control of Communicable Diseases Manual (CCDM), Principles and Practice of Infectious Diseases (PPID), and Infectious Diseases (Cohen).
• After the retrievals from online searching, the number of diseases linked to abdominal pain increased from 115 to 128 and to eosinophilia from 36 to 40. The number of diseases linked to both increased from 27 to 31.
• The source of each new disease-finding link was documented, mainly in the Comments section of the disease profiles.
• To increase specificity, several findings were more concisely defined, and the number of findings was reduced from 119 to 99.
