iExit Interstate Exit Guide

We have added in the ability to view bookable hotel rates nationwide from Hotel Discount Finder, one of the best hotel deal booking platforms in the United States.

This is a small update that is preparing iExit for a much bigger update coming in a few weeks. We are about to launch a new program that will allow travelers to book significantly discounted hotel rooms directly through iExit. You will learn much more about this in the next update, coming in August. Safe travels!

Welcome to iExit version 11! This is a major update, including the following:

- Hotel Prices! We now display hotel rates for most hotels nationwide, showing rates from Priceline Partner Network and Hotel Discount Finder. You can even book those hotels directly from iExit.
- More extensive Yelp integration: We now include a sampling of Yelp images and reviews directly into iExit business listings.

Fixed bug where gas prices were getting cut off on some iPhone models.

This update now allows iExit to display correctly on iPhone XR and XS.

iExit will receive a big update in Summer/Fall 2019. Until then, this will be the first of several small updates leaving up to our big refresh.

The first update of 2017 is a small one.

- We've added the ability for business owners to claim ownership of their business from the app and from our website.
- We unfortunately had to remove one part of our Yelp integration. We no longer display a snippet of a Yelp review on the Business Details page, due to new Yelp requirements. We'll try to get individual Yelp reviews added back soon, but the Yelp Ratings and Review Counts are still available as always.
- Fixed several bugs.

In this update:
- Recent Searches. You can now quickly re-selected a search you just selected, because we now keep track of your recent searches. They show up above the list of common searches.
- Edit your information. You can now edit your account info inside the app. You can change your name and/or change your password from inside the app when you are logged in.
- The "Find Me On Highway" logic has been tweaked to be a little smarter.

Now that iExit pulls its data from our constantly updating API, you can expect a lot of data improvements through the rest of the year, without even needing to download a new app update! By the end of the year, we will be updating all of the major highways across the country and will be completely be revamping our rest area data.

- Fixed bug when you pressed Directions button and it didn't send you to either Google or Apple Maps.
- Added functionality to "Find Me On The Highway" button. Previously it would only work if you were literally on an exit-based highway. Now you can press it if you're anywhere within 1 mile of the highway, even if you're not moving. In this case, it will ask you which side of the highway you would like to be placed.

Updates in 8.0.2:
- We've fixed the bug that some of you have been experiencing with iExit not being able to access your location. This was happening to those indoors (usually on Wifi) without a clear view of the sky. Despite being indoors, this shouldn't have been happening, and is now fixed.
- Businesses with uploaded property images weren't displaying correctly on iPhone 6's 6s's, and 6 Plus's. This is now fixed.
- We've made the category icons for each exit 70% larger than before, making them much easier to see on large phones like the iPhone 6's and higher.

The first big change you'll notice is the new landing page. You no longer dive right into the app into Around Me mode. Now you'll see an intuitive landing page with 4 buttons. If you are traveling on the highway, select "Find Me On Highway." If you're sitting on the couch, select another option to find what you're looking for.

One of the biggest improvements with this update is the addition of User Accounts. We've received many complaints over the years such as "I got a new iPhone and now I have to reenter my favorites." Or "How can I access my favorites on both my iPhone and iPad?". Or "I switched from Android to iPhone (or iPhone to Android) and now my favorites are gone."

To address this issue, we've added the ability for users to create iExit accounts. Simply take 30 seconds to create a new account (which is done securely using SSL encryption) and from then on your favorites will be tied to your account. iExit is supported on iOS, Android, and the web at iExitApp.com, and once you've created an account, you can access those favorites from anywhere.

More improvements include:
- iPhone 6 and 6 Plus resolutions are now supported
- The Map View is much more integrated with the List View throughout the app. You can toggle between the Map and List by selecting the round red button in the bottom-right. This makes maps in iExit much more useful.
- We've discontinued background alerts for iExit for the time being, so iExit no longer accesses your location in the background. This means the days of iExit draining your battery are long gone.
- We no longer have to submit new updates to the App Store to improve the quality of our data. It now gets pulled directly from our proprietary iExit API. This means we can improve our data over the air without you even realizing it.
- iExit now requires iOS 7.0 and higher (which >99% of our users have anyway)

We've improved the Exit Details page, the page that lists all of the businesses at an exit. First off, we fixed a bug that caused this page to load slowly in the last version. Secondly, businesses are now grouped by type, meaning all Gas Stations are grouped together, all Food is grouped together, all Hotels are grouped together, and so on. The page is much cleaner and easier to use.

Remember, in the previous update, we made a big update to how iExit accesses your location in the background. The app will only retrieve your location in the background if you have explicitly told it to remind you of upcoming exits that you have marked as a Favorite. If you don't have any favorite exits, it will not run while in the background.

iExit 7.0 is here and is fully iOS8 compatible.

- Full iOS8 compatibility, which means iExit now is updated for the new Locations Services changes in iOS8.
- iExit can now send you a background alert when you are approaching a favorite exit. This is each to turn on and off.
- iExit has rewritten the way it accesses your location in the background, making it more battery efficient. It will only access your location in the background if you tell it to alert you about an upcoming exit.
- Search has received a major boost in speed, making it quicker than ever to find what's at upcoming exits.
