About Iron Counter and Tracker

Iron deficiency is common among menstruating women, vegetarians and vegans. It is also associated with low-protein diets, ultra-processed food diets, restricted diets (eg gluten-free and dairy-free) and fad diets. Symptoms include excessive fatigue due to to anemia, which can also lead to heart and other muscle damage, impaired mental and physical development and immune function (all body cells require iron for energy). Extra iron is needed during pregnancy. Use this app to avoid iron deficiency. The app can also be used to help people with hemochromatosis avoid iron overload.
The app will set a default daily iron target for you based on your age, sex, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You can change this target at any time, for example if you have been advised to restrict iron intake due to hemochromatosis.
Record the foods & drinks and amounts you consume using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, by favoriting foods, or using Search and using the serving sizes provided, which can be changed at any time.
Your progress towards your target daily intake will be shown on the dashboard in real-time.
You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and iron intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers.
The app’s 328-item curated food and beverage database shows all 312 plant-based foods in green type to help users consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome. Users can also add their own foods and recipes.
You can synchronize all data in the app with other First Line Medical Communication Ltd nutrient counter apps on your iPhones and iPads.
Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share your data with Apple's Health app
Also useful nutritional information via the Info tab.

Now with a barcode scanner, but the United States and Canada are the only countries requiring manufacturers to provide iron content in the Nutrition label, so the data may not be available elsewhere in the world using the barcode. Revised "How to use the app" instructions highlighting that the barcode scanner will probably only be useful for users in the United States and Canada, and that users from other countries will find it more useful to find a best fit from the app's 325+ database of foods and beverages and can add in their own foods if they have an iron content for them.
