With a recent update, Manabi Reader integrates with the newly-launched Manabi Flashcards app to allow one-tap creation of flashcards from words you look up. Try it out with the "Create Flashcards" button on any dictionary lookup!
In addition to various performance improvements and bugfixes (including a vastly improved NHK Easy News experience!), this update also adds JLPT vocab difficulty highlighting, to indicate whether words are easy and common or hard and rare. If you're more of a beginner, you may want to skip over the difficult words for now; likewise, if you come across a common word you don't know, it's probably worth your time.

– This update adds pronunciation audio to dictionary lookups. Learning is most effective when it's a rich, multisensory experience: you're much more likely to memorize Japanese words when you've picked them up by reading something interesting, and now you have audio to make your memory even more vivid. This helps strengthen your memory of words by anchoring them to other memorable things. Of course, if audio annoys you, you can easily disable this by tapping the mute button.
– A special Reddit mode has been added! Browse the Reddit category for Japanese subreddits with interesting content and discussions.
– Manabi Reader now keeps track of all the words you've looked up so you can come back to them later. Just tap the bookmark tab and check out the new "Words" section.
