About Mantra, Aarti and Chalisa
Mantra is a general name for the verses, formulas or sequence of words in prose which contain praise, are believed to have religious, magical or spiritual efficiency. Different types of Mantras have different types of vibrations in it. The powerful vibrations created by Mantra chanting stroke the Chakras to attract divine forces. It involves the circulating of an 'Aarti plate' around a deity and is generally accompanied by the singing of songs in praise of that deva. The word "Chalisa" is derived from "Chalis", which means the number forty in Hindi, as the Chalisa has 40 verses. Therefore, Chalisa means "forty verse" prayer. They are recited over and over again or chanted by groups. Each God has different Chalisa. Chalisa is considered best method of propitiating your Ishta devta in modern age.
