About Modern Classics
Modern Classics is the first independent, critical assessment of the original drinks of these recent decades, compiled by New York Times drinks writer, journalist and author Robert Simonson. This brutally honest collection identifies, justifies and presents the authoritative, verified and properly attributed recipes in four categories: the modern classics, the objectively popular drinks that might yet achieve that status, certain drinks identified as critical favorites worthy of more attention, plus a collection of foundational recipes from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s that helped set the stage for today’s cocktail renaissance.

- New feature: Lists. Your Favorites and Flagged recipes are now lists that you can sync across multiple devices, across multiple apps (!) and access through a web browser. You can even create ad hoc custom lists to organize a menu for a party or other purpose.
- New feature: Journal. You can now register likes and dislikes for recipes, and annotate them (add notes to them). These are all tracked chronologically in your Journal, which can sync across multiple devices, across multiple apps and access through a web browser. Of course, you can also filter recipes you’ve liked, disliked or annotated.
- Various other smaller improvements.
