We’ve added a bunch of great new features that celebrate and use the unique capabilities of our gorgeous new Layflat photo book format! These include:
- Fantastic new pre-designed page layouts that feature images crossing the binding for dramatic and compelling presentations of your favorite images, now bigger and wider than ever.
- A redesigned page layout browser that lets you try out both our existing single-page layouts and our awesome new two-page spread layouts. As always, you can preview these layouts with your images in place!
- Updates to our powerful “Autoflow” feature that will now automatically add two-page layouts to your Layflat photo book, using your best wide format images. You’ll be amazed at just how great these make your Layflat photo book look.
- Updates to our theme browser that now shows you sample two-page layouts when picking a design theme for your Layflat photo book.
- The ability to now change the size of the spine text on your book’s binding! As Layflat photo books have thicker pages and wider spines, it’s great to be able to bump up your type size to use more of that space or just be more expressive!
We also fixed a bug that could prevent you from resizing the default text box on the front cover when using either the Image Conscious or Full Story themes.

We love your feedback and we update Motif regularly in response to it! Here’s what’s new in this release:
We made it much easier to add additional photos to an existing project. Look for the new “Add Images” button in the Motif photo tray, or the new “Add Images” commands in the Image Options or Project Options menus. Any of these will open a powerful new photo picker, right inside Motif. Note that this feature requires macOS Ventura or above.
We added a small icon and note to both the Page and Project views to let you know that your work has been automatically saved. You’ll see the note fade in and fade out whenever you make a change. It’s a friendly and reassuring reminder!

We expanded the maximum book length for our larger hardcover book sizes from 100 to 120 pages. Now there’s more room for more of your favorite photos!
We added support for even more countries in the Asia Pacific region. You can now ship your fabulous Motif project to friends, family, or business contacts in: Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, and Turkey! And, with local printing in the region, delivery is prompt.
We made Motif available in 130 more macOS App Stores around the world. Now, there are very few places where you can’t find, use, and love Motif! Tell a far flung friend!

Fixed a bug in which background patterns and colors could not be changed without also selecting a layout.
Decreased the overall application size to speed up the installation or upgrade process.
In this release we also address the number one usability complaint we’ve received to date: Text boxes being hard to work with. Here’s what we’ve done to make text boxes oh so much better:
You can now easily change the size and position of a selected text box simply by dragging the new handles you’ll find on all four sides. (Corners are coming soon!) Moving a text box is as simple as pressing and dragging it (when not selected).
We’ve added elegant new page layouts that now include text boxes. Simply click the Change Layout icon under the page (as you currently do) and scroll down to see and select these great new text layouts.
All text boxes now include placeholder text in the fonts belonging to the selected design theme. When adding larger text boxes via the new text layouts feature, the placeholder text includes both header and body styles.
We’ve updated the sample pages for our design themes to show more patterns and more samples of what text pages can look like
Finally, to accompany all these other great updates, we’ve also freshened up our Front Cover designs to make the images bigger and the layouts more varied.
