"I commenced the one hundred and seventh cryogenics experiment in lab 57. I would be remiss to state some optimism this time around. I was (fairly) certain that the formula had rectified the rapid cooling defects of the last trial... and the delayed exothermic reaction of the previous ones... and the capsule release issues of those before... and the mechanical ones that preceded them... and...
Well, anyways, the short version is... it didn't work. The capsule froze alright. It was rapid, as expected, too. However, the rest of the experiment was rather... explosive. Cryogenics experiment one hundred and seven failed; but it gave birth to Cryo-weapons research zero."

“Too volatile, they said…. Too dangerous, they said… well, I’ll show ‘em. I’ll show ‘em good!”
With these famous last words, Spear research scientist Edger Vaisillev, incensed at the field reports against his Experimental Explosive munitions, decided to show his superiors up. With intelligence of Scorpion operatives working on personal shielding technology to counter act Edger’s brilliant shrapnel projecting bullets – and the annoying claim that the weapons were ‘too powerful’ and the order that something be done about it – it was evident that the next frontier ought to be a chemical-biological hybrid… and to hell with their retrograde concepts of ethics!
And so… In creating his next legacy, Edger also ended up infecting himself and becoming the first casualty to its corrosive effects - Barring the test animals, of course.
And now - SniperX. a.k.a. Subject0

SPEAR High Command
High priority raids by SPEAR operatives on SCORPION bases have been highly successful. It seems that the application of this tech extends to human experimentation, as well.
SPEAR Research Division has been working hard on adapting the A.W.E. Technology for operational use. Two counts of tech have been approved for field use:
1. Tactical electricity based weaponry
2. Med-packs for adrenaline boost in missions.
In addition, SPEAR High command has also sanctioned trials for new weaponry to assist operatives

In seizing SCORPION’s major assets across the globe, an opportunity to improve our arsenal has come to light.
It appears that the organization has been experimenting with Advanced Weapon Experiments (A.W.E.). SPEAR has acquired a few of these weapon designs.
Teams have already been dispatched to:
1. Hunt down remaining A.W.E. designs
2. Investigate the special materials required for the construction of these weapons
As it stands, these components can be acquired from SCORPION operatives, as they sometimes carry prototyped A.W.E. weapons.
New weapons will be made available to operatives, periodically, after they have been deemed ready-for-service.
PRIORITY 1: Operatives will be assigned high priority SPEC OPS missions in response to this threat.
PRIORITY 2: Operatives have been directed to collect weapon parts to facilitate the Research Division in crafting these powerful weapons.

"Our satellites are back online,” she says.
The technician's frazzled hair and gaunt face reveal the effort it took to undo Scorpion’s mischief.
As if on cue, Alerts began to chime on a multitude of consoles – crimson flashes mark frantic faces, keyboards clack to keep up, and orders are shouted all around her.
Without missing a beat, she turns back to her console and pulls up incoming reports from governments, spy agencies, and their own recon teams. Scorpion’s been busy.
“Sir,” she croaks, the horror of their predicament beginning to sink in. A chill creeps up her spine. “They haven’t halted their attacks.”
“I’m not surprised. With our satellites back up, we’ll be able to respond to their incursions again.”
“That’s not all, sir.” She takes a deep breath. “We’ve had sightings of General Kramer and The Ox. They’ve taken the Gauntlet.”
Silence responds - slow, creeping. Her commander stares through her, his eyes unfocused, his face growing grim - “Get the choppers in the air… and get me Sniper X.”

“We go to dark places with no question and we give the evil there no quarter.
We are not a shield. Armies are a nation’s shield. We are their SPEAR.
We will not be remembered, but each day the sun rises on a peaceful world because we held the darkness back.”
They have struck at our home; banged their fists against our walls.
Strike back. Show them that we, not they, own the night.

I drank my wine. The voice droned on. The propaganda would continue, even with Cobalt dead.
Killed by this..SniperX.
Finished I tossed the glass next to still warm corpses of the security guards.
“Start the pumps.” I commanded.
“But sir.” They protested. “The plan, the ransom…”
“Forget the plan. Pay or not. Let them drink death today…”
They held salute as if they could be seen though the speaker. I had another drink.

Cold.
You have to first get used to the cold.
The cold of the gun fresh out of the case.
The cold of holding motionless in a nest for hours at a time.
The cold of focusing, slowing you heart, and aiming for that perfect shot.
You get through by learning not to feel. Not to feel the burn in your lungs as they beg for oxygen. Not to feel the bite of ice and snow. Not to feel the pang of regret as you pull the trigger.
They walk around, still alive, still vibrant, still… warm.
Make them feel cold.

"Who do you work for?" He shouted, his English thickly tainted with an accent I could not place.
"My name..." I did not get to finish my sentence as he backhanded me, sending my head lolling to the side.
"Who do you work FOR!" He repeated, as if more force and quite a bit more spit would make me talk.
"My rank..." Again a backhand, harder this time, and I tasted teeth rolling across my tongue.
"Who DO YOU WORK FOR!" He shouted, hands firmly on the arms of the chair I was bound to, face so close to mine I could count the hairs in his beard.
"My serial number...." This time he used his left hand, complete with brass knuckle emblazoned with a Scorpion. As my head spun, he kicked a chair aside, sending it skittering across the dirt floor and smashing into the terracotta wall, splintering into kindling.
He cracked his knuckles, but before he could strike me again it hit him.
The shattering of glass.
A zipping sound like a bee on steroids.
A dull squish, like a ziplock bag of meat getting cut open.
The hot blood from the sniper's bullet though his neck sprayed across my face as his girth came slamming down in my lap, his last breaths pulling though his new neck hole. As his eyes looked up to me and started to gloss over I said...
"SPEAR, I work for SPEAR..."
