NTS Edinburgh Description
The National Trust for Scotland owns three very different properties in and around Edinburgh. Each building tells its own story of the city and its residents and how these changed over time. Starting in the 17th century with crowded and communal tenement life at Gladstone’s Land, visitors can travel through time to explore opulent New Town living in the Georgian House and onto 20th century aristocratic decline at Newhailes country estate.

Find out more about these locations and follow GPS-triggered trails between them taking in the varied and historic urban landscapes and learning more about the city as a whole.

The app is Bluetooth Beacon and GPS enabled. This is to show you relevant content based on your location along the trail and immediate area.

The app also uses Location Services and Bluetooth Low Energy to determine your location when the app is running in the background. It will trigger notifications when you are close to a location of interest. We have used GPS and Bluetooth Low Energy in a power-efficient way. However, as with all apps that use location, please note that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
