You can also capture templates from any of the journals you’ve downloaded from the Paper store:
• Monthly planner pages
• Manuscript paper
• Custom grids and ruled lines

And don’t forget — you can set any template to be the default for an entire journal. Every new page will start just the way you want it.

This release also contains several bug fixes, including:
• A fix for navigating to iCloud-only journals from the search dialog
• You can once again drag and drop images from other apps into the ‘butterfly view’
5.3.1 2021-09-08

* Important note: This update removes support for Paper accounts to establish Legacy status and for migrating journals from previous generations of Paper (v1.0 - v3.6.10). Upgrading from those old versions will result in a loss of legacy content. Please export your content from Paper (v1.0 - v3.6.10) prior to upgrading to Paper 4.5.0. Upgrading from any 4.0+ versions (since Nov. 2017) is fully supported.

Bug fixes in this release:
- Zombie pages! Deleted pages in synced journals (on iOS 13) have been coming back from the grave. We found the antidote. Your sketches are safe.
- Default journal templates were vanishing when synced. Now those templates stay put.
4.4.2 2019-09-27
We've added a new feature to the Collage Tool. You can now quickly import any page from your journal as an image directly into the canvas. Using your own sketch pages to build entirely new designs with the Collage Tool is fast and surprisingly fun.

Also included: a couple of minor bug fixes and improved reliability of our Pro purchase flow.

For more info about the Collage Tool, check out our support page URL: we.tl/paper
4.4.1 2019-09-10
This release contains a few bug fixes and a bit of design polish.
4.4.0 2019-09-03
This release makes it easier than ever to customize your Paper journals with a beautiful cover image.

You can now quickly pick a sketch from your journal to appear on the cover. Or find the perfect image from the Unsplash collection.

For those of you who want to take visual organization to the next level, you can also choose the color of the band on each journal.

And finally, we've added a new feature for picking a page template for an entire journal—grid, lined, or storyboard presets will be automatically applied to every new page.

This update contains a few good bug fixes:
- For some users, iCloud synced journals failed to load. No data was lost, but the journals were not accessible. This is now fixed.
- Sometimes the canvas view would enter the upside down state after returning from another app. It was an interesting issue, but we've seen stranger things.
- The color mixer would sometimes change unexpectedly when switching between pages.
- In some cases, when using Apple Pencil, the canvas setting for finger touches was not recognized. That's fixed, too.
4.3.8 2019-05-30

- iOS drag and drop
- Keyboard behavior within dialogs
- Resizing images in the canvas

Once installed, Paper 4.3.5 will load all of your existing journals correctly.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

If you need help or want to share feedback, contact us at support@wetransfer.com.
4.3.4 2019-04-23
This release contains a few bug fixes.
- Custom journal covers on the iPhone were displayed at a low resolution. Things are looking sharp again.
- Zooming in during an image cut would sometimes result in a crash. That's fixed, too.
- Other minor fixes.
4.3.3 2019-03-29
The new Blend tool offers quick access to a feature that was previously only available when using a connected stylus. Blend and blur the ink in your sketches to soften edges and smoothly combine colors.

*FEATURES*
- New Blend tool for all users!

*FIXES*
- Rotating pages would shift the position of imported images. Now they stay put.
- Duplicating a cut image would result in “squaring-off” the edges. We’ve fixed that, too.

*4.3.2 FIXES*
- Changing a color swatch in 4.3.1 would trigger an irreversible loss of custom color palette data. Our team regrets releasing this bug and we encourage you to upgrade to 4.3.2 immediately.
- Duplicating a page with a background color would result in a change to the page's background color. This is now fixed.
- Cutting images with the Collage Tool would result in large file sizes. We've optimized image storage for this case and significantly reduced the associated file sizes.

LATEST FEATURE
Paper’s new collage tool introduces the simplest way to work with images. Add multiple images to the same page and cut them out or slice them up.
We’ve also added an Unsplash integration so you can search thousands of beautiful photographs right from the comfort of your personal journals.

You can also use iOS drag and drop to import images from other apps into Paper.

*4.3 Features*
- A new tool for Paper Pro users! The collage tool lets you add, cut, and arrange multiple images per page.
- Non Paper Pro users can still add a single image per page as always.
- Templates are still available and now appear separately from imported images.
- Full support for iOS drag and drop import.

*4.3.1 Fixes*
- Added an option in Canvas Settings to hide the drop shadow applied to imported images.
- Drawing with Apple Pencil on photos would sometimes trigger a transition to the collage tool. We fixed that.
- Copy and pasting ink with your finger set to "Cut" was needlessly difficult. Now you can tap on the tool tray without losing your cut selection.
- The image picker has been slow to appear for some users. This release might help.

4.2.9 2018-12-13
Minor bug fixes.
4.2.8 2018-11-14
This update implements the new double tap gesture for Apple Pencil 2.

Just choose the behavior you’d prefer directly in iOS Settings:

- Switch to the last used tool
- Show the color palette

Minor updates:
- Removed depth of field and bloom effects
- Layout bug fixes
4.2.7 2018-11-08
After a team checkup at the optometrist, we've made some refinements to the visual depth of field effects introduced in the last update. Thanks for the helpful feedback. And if you notice an improvement, feel free to update your review in the App Store. We actually do read every single one.

This version also fixes a rendering bug for text notes, and should improve the reliability of the pinch-to-zoom gesture.

There are also some impressive optimizations we were able to make which should improve overall speed and performance.
4.2.6 2018-10-29
This update adds a some subtle visual polish to the navigation views for devices that support specific SceneKit features.

We've also spruced up the settings menu, and made our "How to Use Paper" videos easier to find.
4.2.5 2018-10-19
This version brings two essential features to the full screen canvas view.
— Transition to the previous or next page in your journal by swiping with ONE FINGER from the left or right edge of the screen.
— Create a new blank page by swiping left or right with TWO FINGERS on the canvas.

Whether you’re reviewing sketches, presenting work, or rapidly filling a journal with ideas, these two new gestures will keep you in the flow.

We've also localized Paper for our Dutch speaking customers.
4.2.4 2018-10-05
This update fixes an infrequent bug that prevented newly synced pages from correctly appearing in the canvas editor. Now the pages will appear as expected.
4.2.3 2018-09-26
Stability and performance improvements for synced journals.
4.2.2 2018-08-02
The Diagram Tool has relearned an old trick: arrowheads. You can add arrowheads to strokes created with the Diagram Tool by holding still for a moment at the end of any stroke. Then just tap to save one or both of the arrowheads that appear.

This release also contains some sync bug fixes and performance optimizations.
4.2.1 2018-07-01
Stability and performance improvements for synced journals.
4.2.0 2018-06-22
Journal sync is finally here. Customers can now sync their journals between iOS devices via iCloud. Your journals will be with you wherever you go. And your creations will be safely backed up should anything happen to your iPad or iPhone.

BUG FIXES
- In rare circumstances, tapping one journal would open a different journal. Now journals keep to themselves.
4.1.2 2018-05-03
4.1.2 fixes a couple of bugs
- Recurring journal settings "tip" is no longer so persistent
- Pages now deselect properly after performing move or delete actions in the grid view
4.1.1 2018-04-27
4.1.1 makes it easy to export and share a unique page-by-page video of any journal.
- Choose "Export Video" from the journal export options
- Use the hashtag #madewithpaper to make your creation more discoverable
4.1.0 2018-04-20
4.1 brings one of the most requested Paper features of all time: multiple brush sizes. And for customers who annotate a lot of photos, your workflow just got a serious upgrade — you can now add several photo pages to your journal at once.

NEW FEATURES
- Multiple brush sizes
- Rapid photo insert
- Set finger to erase when using Pencil
- Export PDF from the grid: use multi-select to create a PDF
4.0.11 2018-02-22
4.0.11 brings page selection to the grid view, enabling you to export, delete, rotate, and duplicate from the grid. Paper PRO subscribers can select multiple pages at a time.

FEATURES
- Grid view page selection
- Multi-select for PRO customers
- Rotate pages

FIXES
- You can now bring the Tool Tray back up if it becomes hidden while using the Cut tool. Copy and paste is a terrible thing to waste.
- Exporting pages wouldn't always show the most recent edits. Fixed!
