- Improvements (and hopefully a semi-permanent fix) for people experiencing issues with the image preview drawing at the wrong size or in the wrong place
- Fixes some issues with recipes that used certain B&W filters

Thanks for making PicTapGo one of the best-reviewed photo apps in the App Store! 5 Stars after 7 years! We love you!

This update is, from a technical perspective, our Biggest Update EVER, but if we did it right, you won't notice at all. Long story short, this is a major internal rewrite that paves the way for version 4.0, which should be right around the corner, now that all that code from 2014 has been modernized and razzle-dazzled.

In the meantime, here's the stuff that's updated, that you can actually see - if you notice anything broken, let us know at gettotallyrad.com/support

- Many filters have been updated in subtle ways, to reflect the way they should have looked way back in 2014, but which wasn't technically feasible at the time. Essentially, they should look identical to their counterparts in our desktop photo editor, PixelSugar, because they now share the same rendering engine (see things like Old Skool and Lux).
- PicTapGo now requires iOS 11 (to take advantage of Apple's Metal framework).
- We've removed all non-English localizations for the time being (sorry!). Hopefully we can bring these back at a future date.
- Progress indicators when dealing with iCloud-based images, and some general improvements when dealing with cloud-based photo libraries.
- Initial app loading and final photo rendering should be a *little bit* snappier.
- PicTapGo now automatically backs its data up. You can also manually backup and restore everything (including your recipes) from the settings screen.
- Recipes now use a new format. You can still import old recipes, but recipes are saved and exported in the new format.

3.10.0
May 10, 2019
Still the easiest way to take your photos from good to great - thanks for making PicTapGo an essential part of your kit!

In this exciting update!!!

- Yet more progress on the startup crashes which began with v3.9.0 (1)
- Once again saves a copy of the image with borders when sharing to Instagram (2)
- The PTG Camera Roll is now properly sorted by date
- Option to use the current time as the creation date when saving images (3)
- The Go screen tiles now sport a sassy red checkmark after you've shared via a method. Some users missed the red "+" sign on the camera roll tile (you're right. My bad.). Now you can be sure when you've taken an action when looking at a share option.
- The camera roll refreshes more reliably after saving an image. Or changing the thumbnail size.
- Fixed some miscellaneous UI bugs that you probably didn't notice. But I did.

Footnotes:
1. I think it's really, truly fixed for reals this time, but alas I am only a man, and I'm sure in my infinite fallibility, I will have overlooked some edge case yet again.

2. This is a long story, so buckle up. Way back in like 2016, the IG app had a bug where it would ignore the photo we sent to it, and instead just load up the first photo in the photo library. On the surface, it looked like PicTapGo had broken something about the integration, and that we were no longer adding borders when sharing to Instagram. Bedlam ensued, as angry customers contacted us and wrote scathing reviews. Since we're not a Billion Dollar Company™, with the luxury of telling our customers to go get stuffed when they're mad (ahem), we quickly released an update that worked around the bug in the IG app by saving the bordered image to the photo library as well. It was gross, but it worked. This was meant to be a short-term hack until IG got their s*** together and fixed it, but ended up sticking around in our codebase for almost three years. I even inserted a compiler warning at the offending line of code (and it was, seriously, just one line), so I wouldn't forget. Fast forward to 2019. Users have come and gone. Empires have risen and fallen. Carnival barkers and conmen have risen to the highest echelons of power in the land. In my foolishness, I thought "surely, since the original bug has been long since fixed, we can remove this hack?" No. People had grown to rely on our hack as a feature, and were mad that I un-kludged stuff. So we've added it back. You're welcome, you weirdos. :)

3. If you prefer the old behavior, you have two options. Either 1) use the PicTapGo album to access images created from PTG, or 2) turn off Preserve Original Creation Date in the PicTapGo settings.

3.9.0
Apr 29, 2019
Still the easiest way to take your photos from good to great - thanks for making PicTapGo an essential part of your kit!

NEW IN VERSION v3.9

- Batch Processing: Apply the same recipe to multiple photos at the same time! You asked, and we answered. Check it out on the Go screen.
- Adjustable Thumbnail Sizes: Want to see your filters or camera roll larger? Or smaller? Now you can! Check out the Settings screen. Speaking of...

IMPROVEMENTS IN v3.9
- The Settings and Pic screen have been improved a bit, including...
- A new Restore Purchases button on the Settings screen,
- A folder name label in the Pic screen, to let you know where you're at, and...
- The Pic screen now remembers where you were when you left, and takes you there when you return
- You can now make recipes with only one step.

BUGS KILLED IN v3.9

- The app extension (using PicTapGo from the Photos app) would become crashy after about 4 edits. Should be fixed now. Sorry it took so long to track this down.
- The hack we put in place years ago to work around a bug in another app from an unnamed mega-giant social media company has been removed. Sharing to that app will now only save once to your camera roll, instead of twice.
- Folder thumbnails in the Pic screen now display images that are actually in that folder, instead of whatever random images it feels like displaying.
3.8.3
Apr 18, 2018
See farther into your past... PicTapGo now shows up to 100 history entries in My Style, so you can see what your last 100 edits would have looked like applied to your current image. Try it out!

• Fixed a handful of crashes for iPad users when unlocking filters, saving recipes, or managing favorites
• Fixed a bug where thumbnails wouldn't display the correct image after using undo or redo
• Fixed a couple of other cosmetic nits that bugged us
3.7.0

• Fixed a bug where iPhone X users couldn't use the PicTapGo app extension.
• Fixed a rare crash in the Choose screen when choosing the last image in your camera roll.
• New PicTapGo News widget, so we can keep y'all in the loop about important developments.
• Fancy new Totally Rad logo on the launch screen - you DID know that we make like 11 other awesome products, right? ;)

Nov 2, 2017
Thanks for continuing to support PicTapGo! Over 4 years and still going strong!

Version 3.6.1 kills a handful of little bugs:

• Sharing to Facebook via the new Share button should work consistently now
• Images taken with the in-app camera will now be saved with the correct rotation
• Fixed a localization issue with the new Share button
• Fixed a minor UI issue where white bars would show near the edges of the screen

We're still working on tracking down the Crop Screen Crash, and this release should help us get to the bottom of it. Hang tight. Help is on the way.
3.6.0
Oct 30, 2017
Since iOS 11 eliminated the native Facebook and Twitter sharing, PicTapGo now has a new Share button on the Go screen, where you can share to apps on your phone that provide a Share Extension. For Twitter and Facebook users, this means you get essentially the same in-app sharing interface, except it's one more tap away. Tap the new Share icon and select Facebook or Twitter to get the previous behavior.

This update also includes UI fixes for the latest iPhone models.

3.3
Jun 24, 2016
Misc bug fixes.
3.2
Jun 13, 2016
Version 3.2 includes a host of fixes and improvements. Much of the new work is in response to user feedback on Facebook, Instagram, and in App Store reviews. Yes, we listen, we care, and it hurts our hearts when we put something out there that isn't 100% perfect. So we made it even better (and have barely stopped to eat or sleep in the last week to make it happen).

- Further improvements to rendering speed and stability. No more thumbnail spinners that take forever! Run crazy-long recipes on your images again! Use huge images! We don't even care! PicTapGo v3.2 runs up to 30 megapixel images. We even tested v3.2 with a 30 MP image, and ran a recipe with 119 filters on it. And PicTapGo won. Go hog wild. If you manage to break it, please email us and let us know.

- New: Progress bar for the final render that lets you know just what PTG is doing while you wait. More entertaining than looking at a spinner! Feel that strange mixture of awe, pride, and shame as you realize that you're actually running 119 filters!

- New: Customize the width of the border when sharing to Instagram with the Instagram Float option (see the Settings menu). Set whatever crazy inset you'd like!

- New: Settings option to Preserve Original Metadata, including exposure data, Exif metadata, and other camera-specific info (turned off by default, as it causes saves to take a bit longer). Now you can bring your PTG-edited images into Bridge or Lightroom and evaluate your image's nitty-gritty metadata with all the gravitas of a true professional.

- New: Email app logs to the PicTapGo team in the Settings screen. If you're having trouble with PicTapGo, this can help us track the issue down. You can even send us funny jokes, or tell us how much you love us!

- New: Info bar in Pic screen with image resolution and capture date. Informational, and fills up awkward empty space at the bottom of the screen!

- Fixed: Missing favorites, purchased, and unlocked filters are now available in the App Extension (which has been broken since like version 2.0, and nobody noticed!)

- Fixed: Images should no longer save with the wrong orientation. If you want things to be rotated an extra 90 degrees, you'll have to do it yourself!

But most of all... lots of exciting memory and number crunching optimization :)

Send us some love on Facebook or Instagram if you're digging it (or not). See you soon!

xoxo,

- The PicTapGo team

v3.1 includes bug fixes related to the 3.0 release

- - -

"Version 3.0, y'all. I can't believe how far this app has come since its introduction, and I think you'll fall in love with 3.0 all over again. Here's what we've packed into the app that loves you back:

- NEW: Basic Adjustment sliders for tweaking brightness, contrast, saturation, and color temperature. Need to make nuts-and-bolts adjustments to your image? We have four quick, easy controls at your fingertips to make even shorter work of simple edits. Best yet, you can save the adjustments to your recipes to use and re-use. Your new favorite feature.

- NEW: Bloom filter pack available for purchase: 10 soft, airy filters for fresh photos.

- NEW: Browse full-screen previews of your Photo Library. No more guessing which thumbnail you want when you're looking at several similar images. No more going back-and-forth between the Pic and Tap screens to find the image you want. You can now view images from your Photo Library full-screen, and swipe left and right to browse before choosing one to edit.

- NEW: iCloud Photos are properly handled. We really do read your reviews and feedback, and work hard to address the issues you bring up. The previous version of PicTapGo didn't play very well with iCloud, as it relied on an old, crusty set of APIs. For 3.0, we've completely re-written that section of the code, and all of those ""mysteriously missing"" photos should now be available in PicTapGo again (if you're still having an issue, please contact PicTapGo support and let us know!)

- NEW: Send uncropped images directly to Instagram. Now that Instagram lets you post non-square images, we've added another Share option to send the full, uncropped image to the Instagram app, giving you the option to post without cropping.

- IMPROVED: UI responsiveness and speed should be on another level from previous releases. Internally, we've rearranged the guts of PicTapGo to eliminate waiting wherever possible, and added subtle transitions and animations wherever we can. This is the quickest, prettiest PicTapGo ever.

Like the improvements? Tell a friend! Leave a review! PicTapGo is only possible with the support of its awesome community.

UPDATE REGARDING v3.0 CRASHES:

We're so sorry about the problems some of you are experiencing with PicTapGo 3.0. Despite months of work, and extensive testing by dozens of beta testers, there are a few fatal problems with v3.0 that only show up for some users. We've resolved these issues and submitted version 3.1 for approval, and are at Apple's mercy to make that fix available. Hopefully it will only be a day or two. Thanks for your patience!
