“Wow! I can’t believe it’s still light out!” - Everyone for the next week
While everyone’s internal clocks might be a bit messed up from springing forward last weekend, that didn’t stop the QuoteJar Team from getting an update out!
We know how excited everyone gets about those “bug fixes and improvements” updates, and yes, this is one of those. But fear not as we have some great new features in the pipeline coming soon!
What did we fix? For this update we just updated some outdated libraries that were about to be deprecated, nothing you’d notice but fun to know about!
Happy quoting :)

“I can’t wait for the summer to be over, I’m so sick of nice weather” - Nobody Ever
We get it, the end of the summer isn’t everybody’s favorite time of the year. However, we’ve been hard at work to bring you some of the most exciting new QuoteJar features yet to help heal the end of summer blues. So, what’s new?
- Widgets: That’s right everybody, QuoteJar finally has home screen widgets! We’ve created a collection of five different widgets to bring your favorite quotes and jars right to your home screen.
- QR Code and Link Adding: Tired of typing your friends entire email address to add them to a jar? We get it, it’s not 2005 anymore. You can now add friends to jars super quickly and easily by having them scan a QR code or sending them a link. You can also add friends directly from other jars that you’re already in.
- Quote Editing: Quotes are added at some pretty crazy times in some pretty crazy places, typos are bound to happen. Now if you make a mistake when adding a quote, you have an hour go to back and edit it.
- General Improvements: As customary with every update, we’ve fixed some bugs and did some general codebase maintenance to keep things running smoothly.
That’s what we’ve been working on! As always, feel free to send any feature requests to us at contact@quotejar.io as we are always looking for new ideas to add to QuoteJar.
Happy quoting :)

“It’s 2022, I mean 3!” - Everybody for the rest of this month
Happy New Year QuoteJar users! You know what they say, “new year, new me”, but to the QuoteJar Team it’s more like “new year, new features”. We have some updates to help you get 2023 started off right and ensure you have a year full of memorable quotes! So, what’s new?
- Redesigned Account View: The account view has been rebuilt from the ground up and has an all new, more organized look.
- iOS 16 and iPhone 14 support: You were so excited when you finally opened your new iPhone 14, but we know you were concerned if QuoteJar would support it. QuoteJar has been updated to work with Apple’s latest devices and iOS 16.
- General Improvements: We’ve swatted some bugs and did some refactoring to keep the app’s codebase clean and efficient.
That’s all we have for now, but rest assured that the QuoteJar Team will continue working to release some great new features in the future! Have any suggestions? Feel free to send them to us at contact@quotejar.io. We’re always looking for new ideas!

“Sunscreen? HA! No thank you.” - People with a very painful week ahead of them
It’s that time of the year again! Pools opening, classes ending, and stores selling out of sunscreen and flip flops. While all of you have been getting ready for the sunniest time of the year, the QuoteJar Team has also been preparing to ensure QuoteJar is ready for all of your crazy summertime quotes.
With this release, we’ve taken a short break from feature development to squash some pesky bugs that have been bothering many of our users. So, what’s fixed?
- When you tap on a quote in one of the quote summaries on the profile page, the jar it is in will now open and scroll the selected quote.
- The “You’re alone in here” popup that appears when you’re the only member in a jar will now only show once per jar. No more feeling guilty about having a jar all to yourself!
- For those of you in many jars, the fade in animation will no longer play as you scroll down your jars list. It now only plays once when the app is opened.
- If you accidentally enter the wrong email when transferring jar ownership, the transfer popup will no longer dismiss allowing you to fix your typo without re-entering the entire email.
- You will now get a confirmation alert when removing a member from a jar, no more accidentally removing friends!
- Jar admins are now shown at the top of the members list.
On top of all that, we have done some extensive work on QuoteJar’s codebase to improve efficiency and keep it up to date. While this release is light on new features, we have some super exciting stuff planned that will be coming out later this year! As always, we would love to hear your suggestions. If you have any ideas for the app, you can send them to us at contact@quotejar.io.
Have an amazing summer everyone and thank you for using QuoteJar!

“I actually kept my New Year’s resolution this year and I’ve been going to the gym for six months!” - Nobody Ever
Happy New Year QuoteJar users! While many of you are recovering from your New Year’s party hangovers and getting started on your resolutions, the QuoteJar team has made a resolution of its own to release even more awesome QuoteJar features! So let’s start 2022 with a bang with some of our most requested updates! So, what’s new?
- Insights: Do you sometimes forget why a quote was so funny and end up deleting it? Our most requested feature to date, Insights, allows you to add context to your quotes so you can remember exactly what led up to them being said. When creating a quote, add as much (or as little) context as you want in the Insights field so you can look back and know exactly why that quote was so funny. Adding Insights is totally optional and what you write will only be shown if you expand your quote and tap the Insights button (because quotes are still great out of context).
- Extended Quote Field: Tired of unknowingly adding typos to your quotes? The quote field has been expanded to fit multiple lines of text which makes it much easier to add longer quotes.
- Updated Autofill Algorithm: Autofill name suggestions now match to any part of a user’s name instead of just their first name.
- General Improvements: We’ve squashed some small bugs and made some updates to our backend that make QuoteJar more secure. Nothing you’ll notice but fun to know.
That’s all we have for now but don’t you go anywhere! We have no shortage of features planned and can’t wait to show you what else we have in store soon. Have any suggestions? Feel free to send them to us at contact@quotejar.io. We’re always looking for new ideas!
Have a happy and healthy 2022 everybody and thank you for using QuoteJar!

“I always read the release notes when an app on my phone updates” - Some Nerd
Well, if you are reading this, hello there! We know it’s been a while, but the QuoteJar team has been hard at work with QuoteJar version 2 to help heal the self isolation blues! So what’s new?
- Push Notifications! (Finally): We know how annoying it was to constantly keep refreshing your jars waiting for someone to add a new quote, but those days are over! You now get notifications when someone adds a quote to a jar or quotes you specifically. Don’t want to be notified? We get it, notifications can customized for each jar you’re in.
- Auto fill: Who wants to type out someone’s full name every time? Jar members are now suggested when you start typing in the “said by” field.
- Multiple device logins: Didn’t you hate when you logged in on your iPad and it logged you out on your iPhone? That doesn’t happen anymore.
- Swipe to vote: Swipe right to upvote, left to downvote, it’s that simple!
- Updated icons: They’re all round and stuff now!
- iOS 13 support: Yeah it works with the new iOS even though the next one is probably gonna come out soon anyways.
So that’s what we’ve been up to, hope y’all enjoy!
Stay healthy everyone and happy quoting!
