RailTime is the first train app worth downloading, and the last one you'll ever need! Sure, it shows you the schedule, but that's just the beginning. In RailTime, you can set an alarm on a trip with a lead time you specify, and it will let you know when you should be heading for the station. Not ready to leave the bar stool yet? Just ignore the alarm, and RailTime will tell you about the next train! Only want express trains? No problem! Is there just one train you know you need? - Sure! Plus, it will even let you know what track your train is on, and whether it's on time or not!
Never worry about schedule updates - they're delivered to your device, in the background, automatically. You never have to push a 'sync' button, or worry about whether you have a connection to the internet or not. While we're on the subject, the internet is not needed for anything but updates, sending notifications, and track/status.
What are notifications? They're one of the most innovative features of RailTime. Do you call your significant other with the time of the train you're on? RailTime can do it for you! Just put their email address into the notification editor, and RailTime will send them an email when it figures out what train you're on. Want your friends to know what train you're on? RailTime can tweet your train too! Notifications only work on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPad 3G.
Do you often make connections to get to your destination? RailTime's train board allows you to choose any 2 stations, and it will dynamically calculate the best connections for you. Even 3 trains if you have to! The train board automatically scrolls to the current time, so there are ZERO presses necessary to get the full picture. Pie icons show you at a glance what trains will leave in the next hour, and express trains' travel times are shown in white, while locals are gray.
Need to plan for a future date? Press and hold the calendar button to select any date in the future. Unlike other apps that only differentiate weekday from weekend, we manually update our schedules to reflect the little changes that need more granular data, so picking a specific date is necessary.
Currently supporting MetroNorth Harlem, Hudson, New Haven, Danbury, Waterbury, and New Canaan lines. Long Island Railroad is in progress. One line at a time is available as a trial, and all lines are available via in-app purchase.
Location Disclaimer - RailTime uses your GPS location in order to determine what train you're on. GPS is only active for 30 seconds when determining your train, so it should not reduce battery life significantly. However, your experience may vary.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life

Because of changes in how iOS handles contacts, please review and update the email addresses of any notifications you have configured. Also, if you use notifications please go to Privacy - Location Serivces and set RailTime to "Always". More to come soon!

iOS 7 compatibility! Twitter now uses the iOS methodology of twitter access so separate credentials are not required.

Facebook Integration! If you're running iOS 6 and have entered your Facebook credentials in iOS, RailTime can now post your trip to your Facebook object graph.
The train board now shows "from" and "to" on the headsign, so you don't have to notice what direction the arrow is pointing to make sure you're going in the right direction.
Users that only have 1 line seldom (if ever) go back to the "Lines" screen, so they never see the "Subscriptions" button. This caused quite a number of users to have to ask how to renew their subscription. Now, we love hearing from you, but we don't want to make things harder! So, we've added a "Subscriptions" button to the Info page.
Also on the info page, we've added a "Help" button that takes you directly to the FAQ page on our website.
Lastly, we fixed a few bugs that could have caused duplication of train data on your device. We think we have the problem licked - but please let us know if you experience such an issue (or any other issue for that matter).

Tweaks to the algorithm that calculates connections at 125th Street and Grand Central Terminal for better connections.
Removes storage of membership data in the user's keychain, which was causing corrupt data issues.
Support for the "Bus" status in the MTA's data feed to signify when a train is being replaced by a bus.

Modified the route planning to allow traveling from one line to another through Harlem or Grand Central Terminal. It's a bit slow, but at least it works!

Fixed an issue where schedules would show trains that would not normally discharge passengers at the destination station (they're for pickup only). Some people have liked this "feature", but more and more users are having difficulties because the conductors are not accepting their tickets to disembark at those stations. PLEASE NOTE: After upgrade, unless you remove RailTime from your device and reload it, the schedules will not be correctly reflected until the next data update is sent to your device.

The most requested RailTime feature is here! You can now see track and status information for your trains!
We've also tried to improve false positives for tracking (when RailTime thinks you're on a train when you aren't). This is dicey, since GPS on a mobile phone in a moving train is far from precise. Your feedback and tracking logs are welcome and appreciated!
Lastly, we've included the first phase of multi-line trips. You can now view 2 train trips between lines (for example, Stamford to Tarrytown). We're planning to add the ability to do a 2 train trip on one side - that's still in the works.
