The free version of Really Bad Chess lets you compete vs. an AI in Ranked, Daily, or Weekly Challenges. Improve your skills using the included Freeplay mode. A single in-app purchase unlocks Versus Mode so you can compete against your friends locally! Chess is one of those games I always wished I enjoyed, but its commitment to beauty, elegance, and perfect balance always turned me away. Really Bad Chess removes these boring restrictions and flips chess on its head.

As much as random pieces change the game in some ways, I was really surprised to notice how much the game remains the same, and how powerful some pieces are — you've never truly struggled against a pawn until you've struggled against a pawn in the back row.

For chess pros, Really Bad Chess will give you a new type of challenge — the pieces & the moves are the same, but you'll have to throw out your openings and your understanding of normal patterns of play.

For novice chess players (like most of us), Really Bad Chess greatly opens up the game. Instead of starting by studying openings, in your first games you'll get to discover the joy (and challenge!) of learning how to checkmate.

I hope you have as much fun with Really Bad Chess as much as I did making it.

Fixed the 2019 Weekly Streak Rollover Bug (Y2K19 bug)
As long as you pick up and this update this week or next week and your weekly / weekly pro streak is under 4, the game will reset your streak to the longest streak you've ever achieved + whatever you've accomplished so far in 2019.

Also, I've fixed the issues with Weekly Pro streaks not getting submitted to gamecenter.

Thanks so much for all your support for Really Bad Chess! I honestly never had any idea this many people would be interested in this little game. This is the first somewhat big update. I tried to address as much of the feedback I've been getting as I could. I hope you enjoy it!

* There is a small bug where 1v1 won't unlock after you purchase the game until you quit (double-tap home and flick the app away) and reopen the app. I'm very sorry about this. It was a lot of work to get versus in so quickly and I missed this tiny bit of QA :| The patch to fix this is waiting for review with Apple, but in the meanwhile I'm glad there is a relatively easy workaround! Thanks for bearing with me.
