In order to improve the experience for our users and make use of some advanced features, with this release, we raise the minimum supported version to iOS 10. iOS 9 users will still be able to use this latest Recolor version, but will not be able to receive new updates unless they update their operating system to iOS 10 or above.
We have also fixed some bugs that were interfering with your coloring experience. Some of you may have seen an issue when coloring while receiving new picture - and loosing your progress. This is now fixed, as are few other minor bugs.

This update is focused on increasing the safety and enjoyment of the Recolor community. It is now easier for us to find and ban problem-users, and this update also allows us to issue temporary bans for lesser offences. Banned users will now receive direct messages telling them why and for how long they have been banned from the app, and a three-strikes system will be put in place for repeat offenders – being banned three times will result in a permanent ban. We hope this will cut down immensely the amount of problematic content and behaviour found in some corners of the community.

In this release, we have changed the way free daily pictures work. Every day we publish three new pictures – we call them the dailies – which are free for all our users. And we will keep having three free dailies, it’s just that the way they work will be a little different. From this release on, each picture will only remain free until the next is posted. The dailies are published at 8am, 12pm, and 6pm in your local timezone, so from now on, the first daily, which comes at 8am, will be free for everyone until 12pm. At 12pm, it will become locked, and the 12pm daily will appear and remain free until 6pm. The 6pm daily will be free until the next day’s 8am picture arrives.
You’ll always be able to see which picture is currently unlocked, because it will be marked with the word ‘free’ in green text. As as long as you open a picture while it’s free, you get to keep it forever. (You don’t even need to add color to it – just open it while it’s unlocked, and it’s yours for good!) So as long as you check into the app three times a day, you will still have access to all three dailies, and you will be able to keep them and re-color them as many times as you like.
If you’re worried about missing a daily, please make sure you have the notifications for new pictures switched on in your app – and that you have given Recolor permission to send you notifications in your device settings. To switch on notifications for new pictures, please follow these steps;
iOS: If you do not already have push notifications switched on, you can do so by selecting ‘notify me’ in the new countdown banner that will be visible after the update. Pressing the button will trigger the iOS pop-up asking you to allow/don’t allow push notifications. No matter which you select, you will still be able to edit permissions for notifications through the app settings – so don’t panic if you click ‘don’t allow’ by mistake!
Android: Open the Recolor app and go to your profile/My Works page. Then go to settings by clicking the gear-shaped icon in the top left of your My Works page. Scroll down the settings page until you see Notifications, and switch the tab on. Next, go into your device settings, and find Notifications. You should see a list of all the apps on your device; scroll down until you find Recolor. When you tap on Recolor, make sure the ‘Allow Notifications’ setting is on.
For our new users, we have added a helpful tutorial that will be shown when opening the app for the first time. You can choose one of four pictures that will be used for showing you few steps to color.

This release brings an important update for our newbies: you are no longer required to wait 30 days before you can comment. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
We have also added updates to our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, which you will be required to accept before you can continue using our app. Community guidelines have stayed the same and uncolored images are still not allowed. However, you will be able to report them the same way as you have been reporting other inappropriate content in the gallery: by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner.
For those of you who have not been able to turn on push notifications, you will be able to turn them on at any point from the Activity tab.
